Vietjet's cabin crew uniform voted the world's favourite

Vietjet Air has won World's Best Cabin Crew Uniform in the 2026 AirlineRatings Flyers' Choice Awards, finishing ahead of Malaysia Airlines in second place and Singapore Airlines in third.
The Flyers' Choice Awards are decided by public vote, which separates them from the World's Safest Airlines ranking and the World's Best Airlines awards. Our editorial team plays no part in scoring these categories, so this result rests entirely on passenger votes.
A different approach to design
Most of the industry's best-known uniforms draw on either couture or national dress. Singapore Airlines commissioned Pierre Balmain to design its sarong kebaya, while Virgin Atlantic worked with Vivienne Westwood and Korean Air with Gianfranco Ferré. Thai Airways dresses its crew in the traditional silk Chut Thai.
Vietjet took neither route, with a team of European designers creating a uniform inspired by the style of Vietnam's young army cadets. Female crew wear a stylised red polo shirt with a bow tie, plaid shorts and a garrison cap. The uniform also includes a brown belt, flying wings, badges and red shoes, with a vest added over the shorts in winter. Male crew wear black trousers and business shoes with the same red shirt.
Launched in 2013, the uniform reflects the young, energetic image the airline promotes. It serves as a core part of Vietjet's brand identity as well as practical workwear, making the crew instantly recognisable to passengers.
Earlier recognition
The 2026 win adds to earlier honours for the uniform, including Asia's Best Flight Attendant Wardrobe at the 2018 NOW Travel Asia Awards in Chengdu, China. Held annually since 2012, the NOW Travel Asia Awards recognise the region's leading travel brands.
A year earlier, the uniform drew recognition beyond Asia when readers of Canada's Viva Lifestyle and Travel voted Vietjet among the world's five most charming cabin crew. Vietjet was the only low-cost carrier on a list that also included Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Air France and Air Serbia.
More than a good-looking crew
The uniform win was one of two for Vietjet in this year's reader vote, with the airline also named Favourite Low-Cost Carrier in the 2026 Flyers' Choice Awards ahead of AirAsia and Jetstar.
In our editorially judged awards, Vietjet is the World's Best Ultra-Low-Cost Carrier for 2026, extending a winning run that began in 2018. The airline also earns a seven-star safety rating, the highest level in our system.
Beyond our own awards, CAPA named Vietjet its Asia Pacific Low Cost Airline of the Year in 2019. The airline has also won Asia's Leading Airline for Customer Experience at the World Travel Awards three years running, from 2023 to 2025. In February 2026, the World HRD Congress in Mumbai named Vietjet a Global Best Place to Work, one of three human resources awards the airline collected at the event.
Still doing it its own way
More than a decade after its launch, the cadet-inspired uniform still sets Vietjet apart from its competitors. It reflects the airline's long-standing image as a young, bold and energetic carrier willing to do things differently.
That image is now entering a new phase, with Vietjet repositioning its brand as a hybrid carrier that pairs low fares with a wider choice of products across its Eco, Deluxe, SkyBoss and Business fare tiers.
For Vietjet, looking good while flying well is the whole point.
