Premium Economy

On the 15th December 2016, I was travelling on CX257 from HKG to LHR in the Premium Economy cabin. The menu we were given indicated that there was a chicken dish. During serving time, most were told only fish was available. Not wanting to be a difficult passenger although I do not enjoy fish much on flights, I relented. Halfway through my meal, I heard a Caucasian passenger seated in 30C who ranted about how much he paid to fly Premium Economy yet could get what's stated in the menu. It got escalated to the lead purser and she actually offered the unhappy passenger a chicken meal she brought over from business class. I am Asian by the way. The burning question here is - What warrants one passenger getting better service than the other paying passengers in Premium Economy? There were other's behind me who insisted they wanted chicken but were declined and told they could do nothing about it. DOUBLE STANDARDS & DISCRIMINATION. They've not given me a reasonable response asides from an email that looks like it came from a template. EDITORS COMMENT: Absolutely hate when a rude, demanding passenger gets what they want yet those that are understanding and flexible get nothing. It's not right but sometimes when you are in a metal tube in the air the pursers main interest is to keep everyone calm and defuse the situation.
