Singapore Airlines (SIA) has revealed the next generation of its KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system, and connectivity sits at the centre of it, with Starlink Wi-Fi, Bluetooth headphone pairing and in-seat charging all on the way from 2027.

The new system will debut on SIA’s 41 retrofitted Airbus A350-900 long-haul and A350-900ULR aircraft as they return to service progressively from 2027. It will also feature on the airline’s upcoming Boeing 777-9 fleet, which will carry all four of SIA’s new cabin products across First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy.

Yeoh Phee Teik, Senior Vice President Customer Experience at Singapore Airlines, said passenger feedback shaped the new system.

“Our customers told us that they wanted more choice and flexibility in how they spend their time on board, as well as entertainment and connectivity that fit more naturally into their journey,” he said.

Starlink Wi-Fi from early 2027

SIA will begin rolling out Starlink’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband on its A380, A350-900 long-haul and A350-900ULR aircraft from early 2027. The airline says plans for the rest of its fleet will follow once confirmed.

Starlink promises faster and smoother connectivity from take-off to landing, which means passengers can stream video, play games, video call home or work from their own devices while still using KrisWorld on the seatback screen.

The good news for most travellers is that the Wi-Fi stays free. Suites, First and Business passengers keep unlimited complimentary Wi-Fi, as do PPS Club members and any KrisFlyer member travelling in Premium Economy or Economy. Signing up to KrisFlyer costs nothing, so economy passengers should join before they fly.

Bluetooth headphones at the ready if you wish

For the first time, passengers will be able to pair their own Bluetooth headphones directly with the KrisWorld screen. On the 777-9 this works in every cabin, while on the retrofitted A350-900 long-haul it applies to Business Class and on the A350-900ULR to First and Business.

SIA’s own headphones are also getting an upgrade. First Class passengers receive Bang & Olufsen wireless headphones with active noise cancellation, Business and Premium Economy passengers get noise-cancelling headsets and Economy passengers are offered wired earphones.

To keep those devices topped up, every seat on the 777-9 and the retrofitted A350 cabins will have a USB-C port, while First and Business add wireless charging pads.

A wellness planner for long-haul

A new wellness planner brings together sleep and meditation tracks, videos guiding passengers through breathing exercises and light in-seat stretches, plus articles on healthy living.

First and Business passengers will also receive suggestions on seat positions and lighting, while every cabin gets drink recommendations aimed at helping passengers feel more comfortable on long sectors.

Bigger, sharper screens that are easier to use and sharper to watch

First Class will feature 32-inch 4K touchscreens and Business Class screens of up to 22 inches, dropping to 20 inches on the 777-9. On the 777-9, Premium Economy screens reach 16 inches and Economy screens 13 inches.

The A350-900 long-haul gets 4K OLED displays in Business, the A350-900ULR in First and Business, while the 777-9 brings 4K screens to every cabin with OLED in Premium Economy and Economy on selected aircraft. Spatial audio and the redesigned interface will feature across all cabins.

The redesigned interface adds clearer menus, larger icons and better search and filters. A mini-player keeps your show running while you browse, a sidebar shows live flight information such as time to destination, and a Kids’ Mode offers a simpler layout with age-appropriate content.

The library grows to more than 2,500 options refreshed every month, with content from Apple TV, BBC, CNA, HBO Max, iQIYI and Paramount+. BBC News and Sport 24 will run as live channels.

Logging in with a KrisFlyer account unlocks tailored recommendations and lets you pick up a show where you left off on a previous flight. It will also display gate and terminal details for onward SIA connections from Singapore, while First and Business passengers can save their preferred seat positions for future trips.

Why connectivity matters in our awards

Connectivity has become an increasingly important assessment point in the AirlineRatings.com awards, as passengers now expect to stay connected in the air as easily as they do on the ground.

Wi-Fi that works for the whole flight makes a real difference to how passengers rate a journey, and Starlink has quickly raised expectations. Pairing your own noise-cancelling or comfortable headphones is a welcome extra too, particularly outside business class where airline-supplied headsets tend to be more basic.

On a 13-hour sector, though, most wireless headphones will run flat before landing, which is why we still value airlines that supply wired headphones as a backup along with a working charging point at every seat. SIA ticks both boxes with wired earphones in Economy and USB-C ports throughout the retrofitted cabins.

SIA already performs strongly in our awards, earning World’s Best First Class in the AirlineRatings.com World’s Best Airline Awards 2026 and finishing first for Best Economy in the 2026 Flyers’ Choice Awards.

What happens next

Singapore Airlines will reveal its new long-haul cabins, refreshed dining and new amenities across every class at an event in Singapore in November 2026, and AirlineRatings.com will be there to report live.
