My girlfriend and I travelled with Etihad from Brisbane to London (LHR) via Singapore and Abu Dhabi. The flights to Singapore and Abu Dhabi were faultless other than the almost 2hrs we were standing in the check-in queue for as Etihad’s check in system was out of action worldwide, however still was away on time.
On boarding our flight to LHR, we were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to Business Class as the gate agent crossed out our economy seat numbers and scribbled 2 business class seat numbers without a mention of a word.
inflight service to LHR was fantastic as this was our first time with an upgrade. we found the inflight staff to be a little rude and as I reconfirmed our seats upon entry to the aircraft, the staff member said “I can send you back to economy if you like”….
the flights back to Australia from Abu Dhabi were cramped and hot. -we don’t think that the air-con was working correctly. The person sitting in front also had their seat reclined for the entire journey even through meal time and the inflight staff member needed to asked to remind that person.
all in all a mixed bag for our first experience with Etihad Airways… would happily try them again and would recommend them to others.
