I am disappointed that Ethiopian Airlines does not support Visa or MasterCard payment options for flights departing from Somalia. This makes it very difficult for passengers to book tickets online using standard international payment methods.

Downgraded from Business to Economy. Received some useless vouchers that the agents at Cape Town Airport does not want to honour. Try and avoid this valueless Airline as much as possible. No obvious way to solve the issue as even emails go unanswered.

I went on an engagement trip to the Comoros Islands. I had the most unpleasant experience ever. At one point during a stopover with no descent, the crew simply prevented us from using the bathroom for almost an hour. The flight attendants were unpleasant and really quite nasty. A totally unprofessional service that has marked me to this day.

Stranded, Ignored, and Betrayed: Ethiopian Airlines’ Customer Service Nightmare Why This Airline Is the Last Choice You Should Make for Your Holiday Travel Imagine standing at an airport, anxiously awaiting a call from a loved one who is finally coming home—suddenly, your phone rings—they are panicked, telling you they have been denied boarding. No explanation. No warning. Nothing. This happened to my elderly mother, a woman in her 80s with limited mobility, who Ethiopian Airlines inexplicably refused to board her long-awaited flight from Accra to Atlanta on August 17, 2024. A nightmare followed: an appalling customer service experience that left her stranded in Ghana while the airline ignored our pleas. If you are considering Ethiopian Airlines, especially for the holiday season, heed this warning: their customer service ranks among the worst in the industry. They operate with no accountability, no empathy, and no respect for the people who trust them. The Shocking Refusal: Abandoning an Elderly Passenger My mother had been planning her visit to the U.S. for months. We booked her Ethiopian Airlines flight, code CFNFQS, scheduled for August 17th, and even arranged for their “Meet and Assist” service, designed to offer wheelchair assistance and attentive care for elderly passengers. Every detail was prepared, every arrangement secured—or so we thought. But when she arrived at Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ethiopian Airlines’ supervisor, (Edward A. Parker), blocked her from boarding. His vague reasoning? “Medical reasons”. However, he never explained further, nor did he provide any documentation or reach out to the family member who booked her ticket. The airline’s silence was chilling. Ethiopian Airlines had both my contact information and the option to explain why a paying, elderly customer with limited mobility was suddenly unfit to board. Yet they did nothing. No call, no email, no apology. Their complete disregard for my mother’s distress in Ghana went beyond poor customer service. It was inhumane. Desperate for Answers: Two Months of Silence In the aftermath, I contacted Ethiopian Airlines repeatedly, reaching out through every possible channel: emails to their CEO, messages to customer service, and calls to their Accra airport management. Surely, I thought, they would want to address such an egregious oversight. I was wrong. Weeks turned into months without a single response. The silence was deafening. Initially, I connected with Mrs. Meron Masresha, the Team Leader at Ethiopian Airlines' Global Customer Interaction Center at Bole International Airport. She forwarded my complaint to Mr. Abiy Solomon, the Accra Airport Services Manager, who even requested my nephew’s contact details to discuss the incident directly. After I provided them, Ethiopian Airlines vanished once again—no follow-up, no email, no acknowledgment. It was as though my mother’s traumatic experience did not exist. A Blatant Breach of Trust This debacle extended beyond a simple inconvenience; it shattered the very foundation of trust. Ethiopian Airlines’ refusal to respond or provide even basic compensation reveals their blatant disregard for their customers. Their policies state that denied boarding compensation applies when a passenger meets all check-in requirements and is refused boarding for reasons beyond their control. My mother fulfilled every requirement, yet received no compensation, no refund, and no answers. Ethiopian Airlines provided no proof of her alleged “medical reasons”, nor any documentation that justified their actions. For an airline to deny an elderly passenger boarding under the guise of “medical reasons” without informing the family member who arranged the trip—and who explicitly paid for her assistance—is not only negligence; it is a betrayal of trust. This was not a minor mishap or an accidental oversight; it was a calculated decision to evade accountability. Travelers Beware: Ethiopian Airlines Poses Unacceptable Risks This Holiday Season As the holiday season approaches and families plan to reunite, Ethiopian Airlines’ shocking lack of responsibility should serve as a critical warning. This airline should be the last option for anyone who values safety, reliability, and respect from their travel provider. If they can abandon an elderly passenger without so much as a phone call, imagine how they might handle an emergency. Are you ready to risk being left stranded with no support and no explanation, far from home? With Ethiopian Airlines, you are gambling with more than just your time or money—you are risking your peace of mind. A Company Without Conscience: Ethiopian Airlines’ Culture of Neglect Mistakes happen; any seasoned traveler knows this. But when a company goes silent in the face of a serious mistake, it is not just poor service, it is a glaring lack of conscience. Ethiopian Airlines’ refusal to communicate with me, coupled with their utter failure to follow through on their promises, shows a disturbing lack of respect for their customers. Ethiopian Airlines does not just lack empathy; they operate as though customers are disposable. If anything goes wrong, you are on your own. Conclusion: Protect Your Peace of Mind—Choose Another Airline The holiday season is meant for family, joy, and peace. Do not let Ethiopian Airlines turn it into a nightmare. This company has proven that it does not honor its commitments, does not communicate openly, and does not treat its customers with even a shred of respect. Before you book your next flight, consider this: are you willing to risk being left in the lurch, with no assistance, no explanation, and no recourse? This is not just a story about poor customer service, it is a cautionary tale of a company that operates with complete disregard for its customers. Fly Ethiopian Airlines at your own risk. Thank you Amadu Seidu [email protected]

My luggage was lost. Ethiopian airlines acts as nobody is asking. They don't care at all. I went everyday to the airport, i sent emails, i placed claim over Facebook messenger, i asked our embassy in Freetown to send them letter,... i did everything possible but the airlines answer was always "we don't have info" since 2 weeks till now. Is it possible? How such company is taking care of lives? Of maintenance? This is the worst and most dangerous airlines ever seen!!!

This airline doesn't deserve to be in existence. From its dubious government portal that will take hard earned dollars for an e-visa and then not issue it or process the application at all; to its issuing tickets without stating the exact terminal, which made me miss my flight at CDG Airport Paris. Please give it a miss unless you absolutely have no other option.

We flew from HK to CPT via Addis return 5 weeks apart. Both ways the flight crew was rude and unhelpful, bordering on lazy. The biggest problem was with the toilets, one was out of order for both trips. We stopped to refuel in Bangkok and the entire time on the ground passengers were refused entry to the toilets. The food was mediocre and on the return flight we were too late for our connecting flight to Taiwan, which we learned is a common occurance. Very dissappointed, will do my best not to use them again.

I recently travelled with Ethiopian Airlines to Cape Town and unfortunately, it was the worst travel experience I have ever had. The cabin crew disposed of my new Invisalign trays, which meant I lost out on five days of treatment. The hotel I stayed at during my overnight transit was below standard, and I broke out in spots as a result of spending time there. Upon arriving at Kinshasa NDJILI airport, one of my checked bags did not arrive and it took 10 days for it to be returned to me - and when it did, my luggage was broken into, with the lock removed and screws left exposed. The only missing item was a jewellery case with vintage Chanel jewellery, including a pair of gold Chanel dangle earrings that my late Aunt gave me. I was heartbroken and deeply saddened by the entire ordeal. This experience has made me vow never to fly Ethiopian Airlines again.

DISASTER! HANDS OFF! WORST EXPERIENCE EVE! Flight canceled without informing me. We I call them because I wasn’t able to make the check-in online the day before the flight, they told me that it was canceled. INACCEPTABLE! After 8 calls every 2hours (each call took lasts at least 45mins) trying to get another solution, I got the confirmation that they put me on another flight that will leave in less than 2hours. I took the taxi to the airport right away but Of course it was too late so I missed that flight. Today, we are one day after the initial flight and I still don’t have a solution from Ethiopia Airlines. I do not know if I will travel to spend holiday with my family or not. I called a million of times. Sometimes the just cut off or hang up during a call. They never call back the customer for helping finding a solution, no emails. The lied to me many times saying they will call me or will send e-mail but never do that. I am abandoned to myself and will take a lawyer again Ethiopia Airlines!

We had booked to fly in 2020 but had to cancel because of covid. We were given credits for 2 different flights. When I tried using these credits the problems started. Dealing with Ethiopian Reservations is a streesful exercise. Ringing is totally stressful. An agent answers and then I would start my explanation and they would cut me off. Emailing is slightly better but I would have to send the same information several times before I got anyone to do anything. Finally I booked our flights. Two weeks before we were due to fly they canceled one of the bookings and said we would have to change the dates. After much stress with emails and calls I finally sorted it out . We were told we could use our excess credit for an upgrade. But, when we tried to do this they refused. So in effect they stole 224 pounds from us. The flights were OK. Staff not so helpful or friendly. The food was disgusting and the mains were inedible. AVOID Ethiopian if you can.

I was denied boarding by an incompetent and illiterate gate agent in Cotonou. The agent could not read English and claimed my visa was not valid. Upon further review of my visa documents check-in staff at Cotonou airport admitted that my visa was valid after I had been denied boarding and had missed my flight. Ground staff at Cotonou airport was unwilling to help and issue a new ticket. The call center of Ethiopian Airlines was thoroughly unhelpful as well. They keep you waiting for hours and claim that matters have to be resolved at the local airport and that there is nothing they can do.

It was my first flight experience with ET Ethiopian Airlines and I am afraid ET did not meet standards that I would expect from an airline that is part of an Alliance that stands for quality of its members. On my first flight from DXB to Addis, there was a delay due to the weather conditions in Addis. While this delay is beond ETs control, unfortunately, there was no prior information given to passengers in Dubai, despite a delay of 6 hours. The more severe issue was, that inflight, when I went to the bathroom at the rear of the aircraft, there were two fligh attendants sleeping on the jumpseats in the galley and clearly there was nobody on duty (awake) in the whole economy section. As an airline employee, I understand that this is a breach of safety that I have not witnessed on any other flight. It goes without saying, that such behavior puts passengers and crew at risk and needs to be reported to the respective authorities. You are thinking about flying ET? Think again.

The airline changed our connecting flight from Addis Abba to London from midnight to 10.45am the next morning, so they put us into a hotel. First, the cabin crew was terrible: no sense of hygiene, mixing old pillows with new ones, empty cups on the floor etc. Then the hotel...where do I start: cold food on arrival, no working shower and hot water (they offered to bring bucket of hot water instead!!). They brought maintenance guy who changed the shower but hot water still not existent. In the morning, still no hot water. Then we realised the airline gave the wrong pick up time to the hotel; luckily we discovered in time so had an extra 2 hours sleep (one of which wasted on maintenance). Breakfast: cold rice, cold chips, overcooked and cold scrambled eggs, cold veg, supermarket bought dry cake (one of which had clearly been stored with chicken as there was sauce on it, so no food hygiene). The worst experience ever!!!

This is the worst airline we have ever seen. They modify and/or cancel you flights until they get a flights fully occupied. They do not give you any reason for the cancellation. If you are lucky they provide an optional schedules, but could be 7 days later as you scheduled your flight But happened they keep the connection flight date, departure date offer is 5 days after the connection. We had to apply and pay for Visa's for Tanzania. Due to ET flight cancellation we had to depart 3 days earlier. A new Visa was necessary. We send may be 10x e request to refund the Visa expenses. No reply at all from ET NEVER FLY ET is our recommendation

Hello, I'm writing this review to tell you about my son's flight. All I wanted was to bring him during his two weeks of vacation at school in Brazil to spend here in Bangkok, where I live, but his flight has been a nightmare... Because of more than 10 hours of delay on his first flight plus more than one day on his second flight we lost a booking in a hotel, a flight ticket to go on a trip here in Thailand, and without mention the days off that I requested at work to spend with my son who now is in a hotel in somewhere in Ethiopia because of Ethiopia's delay on his flights. And he is underage what makes me feel super worried about this situation. They even didn't send me an e-mail about all these changes in Ethiopia and I had written when I booked the flight that I was requesting extra attention on him as he is underage. I've been trying to reach the company by phone several times but unsuccessfully. Their customer support for phone calls is terrible. I really don't recommend this flight company. It's cheaper?! Yes, it is. But definitely not worthy! Thanks for reading!

We bought souvenirs (2 ebon giraffes) that we planned to transport as carry-on luggage, like we did many times before on our trips to Africa. At the check in counter, we were told that it is not possible to take the souvenirs on board, they are too big, and that we need to check them in. We told the employee that the items are very fragile and very expensive, he told us that the airline now has separate containers for fragile items and guaranteed that the souvenirs will not be damaged. We reluctantly agreed as we were not presented with any other options. On our arrival to Milan, we could immediately see that the package was ripped od several places and it was obvious that the items inside were broken. This was certainly not an accidental drop, the item had to be thrown around at every chance. Now, they do not plan to make any effort to resolve the issue, even though the damage occurred solely because we followed their employee demands and assurances against our wishes. We travel to Africa 10 years in a row now, and we are definitely done with Ethiopian airlines.

Ethiopian Airlines is very OK. I used it to fly from Abuja to Addis Ababa, then Addis Ababa to Dubai. The cabin is well designed, spacious and comfortable. The staff are OK, but they need to make their smile a bit brighter. The food could be worked on, but its still better than that of most African airlines. I recommend Ethiopian to get around Africa, it's the best out here.

I have travelled with Ethiopian Airlines - this is my second time. I don't eat on flight usually (my choice), but I enjoy my tea while flying. During my flight, I requested for simple tea, the hostess actually was making fan of me, she demeaned me for asking for tea. Second time - on a different flight with same airline, I requested for tea, the attender actually looked at me like I was asking some thing out of the ordinary, again I was not given one... The rest of the services were good

We bought a ticket from Ethiopian airline two months out of our actual flight date(Actual Flight date is Jan 31st/2020). We bought 4 tickets for a family vacation and by mistake chose the wrong date. After buying the ticket we wanted to change the flight date to be 2 days later than the booked flight date, namely Feb 2nd/2020. To this request, Ethiopian Airlines is charging us what they call a cancellation fee of $300 per ticket which comes out to $1200 plus the price difference which they say is $130 per ticket. So, just to do a mere change of flight date, Ethiopian airlines is charging us a Total of $1720. I find this highly unethical and incredibly insensitive.

We bought round trip tickets for June departure and July return. We lost our baby patient on their plane on our way to the destination. They have a rule that in the event a passengers dies, you will be offered a free return flight. We needed to return to our country right away but they refused to give us a free return flight. They made us call different people to get the return flight but they all denied to give us one. They said we only had the death summary given to us on the plane, instead of a death certificate, which is why we couldn't get the free return flight. After multiple calls, we finally spoke to someone that told us that we should purchase the return tickets and we could claim the refund later on when we have the death certificate. I called today to get a refund but I was told, the rule doesn't apply anymore since we went ahead and purchased the return tickets. We were mislead, there was inconsistent information, my only hope is that Ethiopian airlines will train their employees or find competent ones.

I flew Ethiopian return from CPT to UK. I upgraded my ticket for the return journey (ET847). The seating was fantastic - but I was totally disappointed with the food served. I am GF and I never got a decent meal… Even though the hot dinner was GF, the other items on the tray were full of Gluten! If I had not checked the ingredients I may have been poisoned. I thought the food would be better in Business. Other passengers had a choice, I had to eat what was put in front of me. The before-dinner snacks were full of Gluten. For starters I was served fruit salad and green salad, followed by a fish-dish with tomato (it looked like it came from Economy). The dessert trolley and chocolates were full of Gluten! The service, staff, and bed were fantastic, but the meal was disappointing. Ethiopian did not even try! I am unhappy that I paid so much and ended up eating the same, boring meal that I got in Economy. I would like Ethiopian to upgrade my partner's ticket free of charge from ADD to CPT when he returns mid-July. Upgrading his ticket would make me happy again.

yesterday i was on the Ethiopian Airlines website looking for a flight to Nairobi Kenya. your site suggested a flight from Boston, and it said "+1" for arriving the next day. i selected the flight and paid the fair. as soon as the itinerary came up it actually was +2 - two red eye flights back to back. i called the help line and was told that there was no way to cancel a reservation made an hour previously because the flight was "less than 7 day s away". i asked to speak to a supervisor and again was told that the rules state that the flight was less than 7 days away and the only way to cancel a USD$795 ticket was to pay USD$300. i understand the "rules" but i have been traveling internationally for years and every airline i've ever traveled on allows a ticket to be cancelled if the request is made an hour after it was purchased. United Airlines, British Airlines, American Airlines, i have had this happen to each one but for some reason Ethiopian Airlines has no flexibility and no customer service.

I flew from Johannesburg to Bahrain on the 14th April 2019 and returned on the 19th April 2019. Pros The aircraft was good Everything Worked The flights were all smooth Cons All fights departed late and arrived late This meant that I was rushing in Addis to catch the connecting flights both ways Flight from Bahrain left over an hour late On the way to Bahrain, we stopped in Dammam which was not reflected on the ticket The drinks are hot and there was no ice on any flight Food is not good The general hygiene is bad. The toilets are the worst that I have ever seen. Some flights have TV's behind the seats and others dont. General Notes Ethiopian Airline are generally cheaper than other flights but not worth all of the negatives. If I had the choice, I would not fly with then again.

I am disgusted with the treatment I have received from Ethiopian Airlines. I traveled to Malawi to attend my father's funeral and scattering of his ashes. A sad and stressful time. This was compounded by the fact that not only did I not received my luggage on the day of my arrival (13th February), I still to date have not received it (26th February). I am now back from Malawi after spending the 4 days that I was there wearing the same clothes!! I had to go to my father's funeral and scattering of his ashes in the same clothes I had been wearing for 3 days!! My vacation was budgeted and was not meant to be going clothes shopping!! As well as the fact that where we were was in a remote area of Malawi. You have cost me a lot of money, you have cost me a lot of stress. I have made a monetary claim with Ethiopian Airlines which you have ignored along with ignoring where my luggage is. I am disgusted. Thank you Ethiopian Airlines for causing me such stress

Traveled Mumbai to Cape Town and back. Worst customer ever. Mumbai - Capetown The flight had layover at Addis Ababa. On reaching Addis Ababa, we were sent to terminal without any guidance on what is to be done, as Capetown flight was not showing on the terminal schedule monitors. After inquiring we were told that flight ti Cape town had already left and we will have to wait for 24 hours in Addis Ababa. We were transported to a 2 star accommodation. Next day we caught our flight to Cape town. On reaching Capetown, our 1 baggage was missing. After 3 days of follow up, the baggage was finally found and returned Capetown - Mumbai The flight had layover at Addis Ababa. Again on reaching Addis Ababa, we were told that Mumbai flight had left, and we will be sent to New Delhi after 4 hours and from there to Mumbai, totaling a delay of more than 12 hours. On reaching Mumbai, this time the entire baggage were missing. After 2 days of rigorous follow ups, the baggage was found, couriered to my address. Upon checking my bags, i found that all my valuables like watches, perfumes etc were missing. Even after raising the issue at all possible Ethiopian Airlines touch points, no response from the airlines. Really the most stressful travel one can ever take. I travel through Ethiopian airlines from BOM to TEL AVIV and back. I had 8 hours layover in Addis Ababa, so I was thinking that I have spent 8 hours at the airport but the airlines provided me hotel accommodation at Addis Ababa. A driver picks me at the airport and drops me at hotel and vice versa. When I landed in TEL AVIV, I lost my baggage and I got panicked. But, I would say that their service was good and I got my baggage on the same day after few hours. While travelling back to India again I had a layover of 8 hours at Addis Ababa and this time they provided me Ethiopia tour. The tour guide first took us to a museum and then to an awesome Ethiopian cultural restaurant. We enjoyed the awesome Ethiopian cultural food there. Then there was Ethiopian music and dance show which was way beyond my expectation. I danced a lot there with them. I just loved to be there. So, in short, I would recommend Ethiopian Airline to everyone. Don't afraid if there is 8 or 9 hours layover, you will enjoy it completely.

Airline itself is comfortable. Customer service is simply awful. Pray that everything is fine if you ever fly. Luggage was damaged and I am now going on NINE MONTHS trying to get compensation for my baggage. They blame you for not filing, though it was their staff that "disappeared" and refused to file at the DC airport, then after months of trying to resolve, have to file a claim and then tell you they are "adjusting" the amount. Don't fly this airline -- ever. If you have any issue, you should pray you can get it resolved as they simply couldn't care less about the customers they are serving.

It was an awesome experience flying on your airway from Lagos to Cape town on the 25 March 2017. As a blind passenger traveling alone, I received a special treatment and guidance from bording to finish and the safety of my luggage was guaranteed. The friendliness of the air Hostess was overwhelming, as I still remember the tiny female voice asking me time to time if there was anything I needed and that meant a lot to me, Hana Bayleyegne was her name. I had a variety of choices to make during meals. At every interval when our flight connected, I never felt lost because there was always this person who led me to the next flight with a pleasant welcome and conversation, that seemed more like a tourist guide. The take offs and landing were as smooth as I have never experienced and this compelled me to ensure that I shouted out to the Pilot on my exit, saying "thank you". I will be traveling back to Lagos on the 9 December and I hope to be treated as such again. Thanks

Absolute worst airline i have ever flown and will not do it again. I would have preferred to fly easy jet over them. We waited in line to go through "security" for 2 hours before going through security and taking away our water then waited in another line for a second security for another hour then finally made it to the gate only 15 minutes before boarding and there is no washroom or anywhere to buy water when waiting for the plane so I couldn't take necessary pills and I hadn't been to the washroom in 4 hours because of all the lines as i was travelling alone. Then we had to board by zone and we were called to wait and we waited there for another 45 minutes to board by zone which was completely unnecessary as we all had to go wait in the same line to get on the airplane. This was all at 1 in the morning when everyone is exhausted and ready to go. Once on the airplane they forced me to turn off my phone and stood there watching me until i did, even though it was on airplane mode and that the only device i had to listen to music. The flight attendants were so rude the whole flight and not accommodating to anyone, it was almost like they were angry when people needed assistance

we had awful experience with the airline and Airport. We were planing to take off from Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) to Montevideo(Uruguay), we have searched and tried several times to reserve online through the website direct to Montevideo. Unfortunately,is not showing in the listed destination. So, we have reserved till Sao Paulo then connect to Montevideo with 4 hours transit flight by Latam (Brazilian airline). We have taken off from Jeddah Airport to Addis Ababa without any issue. However, once boarding for Sao Paulo started in Addis Ababa, their team did not allow us to board due to separate ticket purchasing (They, said “final destination should by Montevideo not Sao Paulo ” they promised to support), we have showed them the check-in for flight from Sao Paulo to Montevideo but they did not listen to us at all, and they replayed “we will support you by reserving next day flight from Addis Ababa to Montevideo”. We have asked them to hold our luggage’s from leaving to Sao Paulo and they agreed. After waiting for 4 hours without feed back. The Agent asked us to adjust our ticket by ourselves or go back in next flight and adjust the reservation from Jeddah. we have agreed to go back

Terrible experience Flights schedules changed multiple times resulting in missed connection. Inflight customer service non existent. Airport customer service one step ahead for being terrible. An ultimate rudeness and impoliteness. B777 which I flew v old and a shame for Boeing that they have such aircrafts flying. Literally soiled seats with old configurations of aircraft. Worst of all, no cabin sanitizing or air treatment since there was a string unpleasant odour. Airport is a disaster especially if you get allergy from unhygienic aircraft , there is no pharmacy, you can't even find some strepsils or lozenges. In short avoid this even if you want to go fromA to B free of cost.

I fly Ethiopian Airlines regularly and it is a very good airline, with a modern fleet. Their crew are friendly and caring. It is in the top tier of African airlines and comparable to Turkish Airlines and Thai, with customer service and standards better than many international carriers. Emirates, Etihad, Qatar and Singapore have better service and far more luxurious with far better airport hubs. In Africa, Ethiopian Airlines stands out as very good internationally.

My seat's entertainment unit sound would not work. Being a long 12 hour plus flight, this would seem aggravating. I asked for help to fix the situation countless times, to no avail! The attendants response more or better to fellow Ethiopians that people that are not Ethiopians. The food is really bad and the timeliness of service is inconsistent. One of the attendants literally chucked a hot foil food container into my hands and obviously didn't give a damn about the reaction. I will forever and a day avoid flying with them!!!! Just terrible all around and this is after omitting the nuances that make for a moderately satisfying flight, that are lacking with their service and amenities!!!

I am a frequent traveler of EAL and have enjoyed my flight except local regional flights where there was no entertainments on the Bombardier aircraft.

My wife and I flew Ethiopian Airlines, Cape Town-Addis Ababa-London Heathrow (economy, return) over Christmas-New Year. We were pleasantly surprised. Flights on all four legs of the trip departed and arrived on time, luggage arrived safely, aircraft were comfortable and generally clean, ground and on-board staff were efficient and pleasant, and food quality very good. With a substantial fare saving over their nearest competitor, I wish to point out some inconveniences (rather than complaints) for the benefit of those considering flying Ethiopian: 1. You can't check-in online at LHR, so be prepared to endure a long and somewhat chaotic queue. 2. Infotainment system didn't work on either of the African legs of the flight. 3. Not all fellow-passengers seemed familiar with airplane toilet etiquette (hand basins left full of water, paper towels strewn on floor) but nothing worse than that. 4. Don't expect all fellow passengers to necessarily obey seat-belt signs (wheels on ground, bottom out of seat in some cases) and be prepared to join the melee for overhead locker space on boarding. Will we fly Ethiopian again? For what we paid, yes.

We were very hesitant to fly Ethiopian Airlines having seen some of the reviews, but from the minute we boarded the plane we found attentive staff, comfortable seating, fairly good food and excellent media choices. Well worth the money. Definitely better than some of the U.S. airlines of which we are frequent (unhappy) flyers!

At Addis Ababa, we were directed to one entrance for security screening, whereupon staff closed the doors in our faces and directed us to a second entrance; the second entrance directed us back to the first entrance; we were then directed to a third entrance, where we waited a while, until being redirected to a fourth entrance. After boarding, we sat in the plane for forty five minutes before being told that the landing gear was broken. After another half an hour we were told that the air conditioning was also broken. The heat was sweltering. After a full hour and forty five minutes of this heat, the air stewardesses thought to bring us water. A stewardess handed the last cup to the passenger beside me, looked at me, then returned to the back of the plane, where she remained. Thanks Ethiopian Airways.

This was my first time with ET. I flew round trip from LAX-DUB. I was a bit impressed when I checked-in at LAX, the service was fast, the agent is very friendly, helpful and very informative. However the service on board is the total opposite of what I had experienced at LAX check-in counter. The crew members are not friendly at all. There is no warm and welcoming feel to it. They're just there to do the job and get it out of the way. They bump into my seat and my elbow few times, they never said a word. Not a sorry, pardon me, or excuse me. There is no human interaction, no compassion or whatsoever. Also the plane is a bit filthy, specially the restrooms. The crew members didn't seem to care about cleanliness. The food is also terrible. I travel a lot, ET is definitely one of the worse airline I've had experienced. I will not recommend it and I will never fly them again.

Meal serving was four times for 12 hours flight. Very friendly staff. Entertainment was good as well different movies and music including African movies. There was no delay at all, in fact when the first flight we arrived 1 hour early since the weather was good. I Recommend Ethiopian airlines!!

Flew from Lusaka to Washington DC via Addis with the worst airline i have ever flown with. Ground staff completely unhelpful and rude. Cabin staff slightly less so. Cabin was filthy. It appeared as if previous guest had vomited into the seat pocket on Lusaka/Addis leg but that is quiet understandable given the food quality. Pre booked meal preference ignored, actually didn't feel like eating after perusing my seat pocket. Entertainment system not operational on Lusaka/Addis leg on Boeing 777 and only worked intermittently on Addis/Washington leg. Would not recommend this airline. Avoid. Like. the. Plague.

The flight was ok, but a male staff member at Heathrow was unprofessionally dismissive and dishonest and the customer service in general, especially in terms of problem resolution is for practically speaking terms non existent. Be wary of booking online.
