A strengthened agreement between Qantas and Air France-KLM will give the Australian carrier’s 13 million frequent flyers access to hundreds of thousands of more reward seats across Europe. An enhanced deal announced Monday between the two groups gives Qantas frequent flyers access to reward seats, points and loyalty tier benefits across the Air France-KLM network. The deal allows the Flying Kangaroo's customers to fly to more than 60 new destinations across Europe and Africa, including ports such as Biarritiz in France, Dresden, Germany and Calvi in Corsica. READ: Is Project Sunrise fading into the sunset? “Members will now have access to hundreds of thousands more reward seats in popular destinations including Paris, Amsterdam, Rome, Barcelona and Athens, as well as new destinations across France, Italy and Northern Europe.'' Qantas Loyalty chief Olivia Wirth said in the announcement. “Frequent Flyers used 10 billion Qantas Points booking dream trips across Europe last year. We know this partnership will allow our members to explore more of the continent and find reward seats more easily.” The deal builds on a 2018 agreement between the groups allowing customers of each airline to connect on flights between Australia and Europe via Singapore and Hong Kong and enjoy perks such as reciprocal lounge access and points. Qantas said the latest announcement meant members could access reward seats and earn points on all fares across all Air France and KLM marketed flights globally. Frequent flyers with Gold status or higher would also be able to access tier benefits including priority boarding, priority check-in and extra baggage allowance on any Air France and KLM operated flights. “Qantas Frequent Flyer is committed to building strong and strategic partnerships with flagship airlines to improve travel options and benefits for our members,’’ Wirth said. The agreement applies across Air France and KLM economy and business cabins on eligible flights operated by the European airlines themselves. To earn Qantas Points with Air France or KLM, members simply need to enter their Qantas Frequent Flyer number when booking their next flight. They can redeem available reward seats when they log in and select to “use points” when searching for flights on the Qantas website. Qantas also has codeshare agreements with oneworld alliance airlines serving Europe as well as with Dubai-based Emirates.
