In its efforts to rebuild the airline and add capacity, Air New Zealand is chartering an A330 and crew to fly the daily Perth-Auckland flight over the peak summer months.

Charter airline Wamos Air will operate the flight from November 15, 2022, to February 16, 2023.
But the plane doesn’t have premium economy.
Air NZ general manager short-haul airline Jeremy O’Brien says: “Customers booked in premium economy will be reaccommodated in economy and refunded the fare difference before their flight.” Passengers who have booked premium economy are being contacted and can choose to get a full refund or put their flights into credit if they no longer want to travel.
Mr O’Brien adds that the A330 has just been through a refresh and has 20 business class suites and international standard economy class with a 32-inch seat pitch. The economy configuration is 2-4-2.
He adds: “We have been doing everything to build back quickly, bringing back many of our widebody aircraft, rehiring and bringing on more than 2100 pilots, cabin crew, airport and contact centre staff and engineers. Our training facility is humming and we’re going as fast as we can to get people on board and this work will continue over the next few months while this temporary measure is in place,” he said.
Mr O’Brien says that Air NZ will have all its Boeing 777-300ERs back from storage by the end of February 2023.
