I was on a Batik Air flight from Jakarta to Surabaya. The airplane was filthy, and I had to ask the flight attendant twice to come clean my seat. It helped som, but still had a lot of stains. I’ve flown with them a few times, and their airplanes are always dirty. Hopefully I’ll never have to fly with them again.

Appalling customer service! My friend booked flights for her husband, herself and me from Penang to Denpasar. They were celebrating 40th wedding anniversary and I was reuniting with a daughter I hadn’t seen for three years. Flight retiming meant we would miss connection at Kuala Lumpur. When we eventually got through to customer service they had no advice at all so we decided to catch flight to KL and stay in a hotel till next day (losing one night in Bali). Clerk at Penang said we should have been informed that second flight would have waited! We incurred extra expense and lost a day’s holiday. Very stressful for three senior citizens and still no reply from email sent about recompense. Other passengers in departure lounge had a catalogue of complaints about this airline. Then we read that two pilots had fallen asleep on a flight to Jakarta! I am incredulous

They treated me poorly. During my flight, I found out by accident that my seat was missing important safety gear underneath it. Even after three months of asking, they only told me they had extras on the plane. It’s crazy to think that in an emergency, I’d have to leave my kids to ask for a safety vest, especially when they had time to give me one before

Left for 48h in Kuala Lumpur after the Batik Air flight was delayed and had to constantly chase them to get put on new flights to reach our destination. Then we find out that for some unknown reason they modified our return flights and did it incorrectly. As a result we were denied boarding on our trip home. We had to purchase new tickets leaving us out of pocket by $8000. Any attempt to contact them was left unanswered. Nobody answers on the phone or the Whatsapp so called Customer Service. No compensation was offered and no reply to our complaint. They should not have a license to operate! Avoid them at all costs.

I have a list of complaints about this airline. But by far the biggest is the rude flight attendants. Both ways. Not just the one way. I put my hand up to ask a question as the flight attendant walked past and she put her hand in my face and kept walking. I’m a seasoned traveller and never experienced this kind of service before.
