    I have flown air india many times both domestic and international. Last year, I took an air india flight (economy)from delhi to frankfurt. It was a Dreamliner aircraft which has all the modern amenities. I liked the food and the snacks, cabin crew was also helpful. Few things I didn’t like i.e. leg space was less and also, they need to add more in-flight entertainment.

    I also took a domestic flight yesterday. It got late by more than 30 mins but the flight had very less jerks looking at the cloudy weather outside. Also, leg space in this aircraft was more than it’s rivals in india.

    So I flew Air India once and never, ever again. We flew domestically from Agra to Varanasi. First of all the plane looked like it had never been cleaned…black stuff smeared all over the walls, dilapidated seats with rips and tears and a “black grime” on the seat. I wiped it down with a cloth and the cloth was black when I had finished. Then saw 2 cockroaches. The “food” was half a stale sandwich, and we payed extra for business class. The plane was barely airworthy. Scary scary flight. I think safety is a serious issue with this airline, I really have never felt unsafe on an airplane until Air India. Also timeliness isn’t their strong suit. Air India is in the news almost daily for something maintenance related or something totally insane. They should’ve made Jet the national carrier and scrapped Air India. Very unfortunate that the Indian flagship carrier has fallen from a good airline to a safety hazard.

    I had an amazing experience with air india on my recent flight from Lucknow to Jaipur onboard their ATR 72 aircraft.I paid 1500INR and got 15KG free check in baggage and 10 KG hand luggage which is more than what I had experienced in most of the western countries.Air India definitely stands up to the term of being a full service carier for seating assignment was free and also a meal service which included sandwiches and crew was really nice to keep making rounds and asking if any pax wanted more.
    Given the price i paid Im very satisfied with their service and would choose air india any given day.Its Cheap and Best.

    The overall experience was terrible.

    I spent over 4 hours waiting on Hold trying to contact AI Call Centres – on Delhi, Mumbai & Chennai Numbers trying to find out if there would be a charge to change the Date of the Return Flight and if so, how much. The T’s & C’s say there are no penalties/fees after the onward journey has been done (except for the Fare Difference, if any).
    Finally after a 20 min wait on one day, I got hold of someone and after checking the availability for the new date, she mentioned that it would be the Fare Deptt who would be able to tell me the Price ! She then transferred me and the line got disconnected after 40 mins. She confirmed that someone would call me back on my number (which I updated). A week and past the travel date, no call back from anyone !
    I even sent emails, only to be given the same contact numbers that I have trying unsuccessfully.

    We recently flew a number of internal flights with Air India and the airline was appalling, from the dirty cabins to the poor service. The icing on the cake was a 1.5 domestic flight delay, which caused us to miss our connecting international flight. We had asked a number of different Air India staff members to call our connecting airline, to advise of our delay, but they did not, so the flight left without us. We were only a few minutes late and the airline said they would have waited for us had someone called. We were stuck in Mumbai overnight, until the next flight out. What did Air India do about this? Absolutely nothing! They did not even offer to pay for food or accommodation. Abysmal airline, with abysmal service. Never again will we fly with them!
