Seating

In economy it’s a 2-4-2 standard configuration with 215 seats. The legroom is very generous at 33 inch. Customers can expect a modern, streamline seat with added back and headrest padding. The new chocolate brown and aqua colour scheme gives the cabin a modern and fresh vibe. Garuda have not cut any corners with their economy product and each guest receives an amenity pack featuring earplugs, socks and an eye mask. The kit is complimented well by good quality blankets and pillows. It’s really easy to settle back and get comfortable. The lavatory presentation really impressed me. For a second I thought I was in business class. The lavatory was clean and very well stocked. Premium hand lotion, toothbrush sets, napkins and refresher towels are nicely displayed and available for your use. A very impressive touch giving the economy cabin that ‘premium feel’.

Customer Service

3 / 5

Fifteen friendly, smiley and attentive cabin crew looked after our every need. The cabin crew performed their duties well and were always available and happy to help. They clearly love their job, the company they work for and they seemed proud of what they do and the product they offer.

Catering

2.5 / 5

Three meal choices were available on this flight including one vegetarian option. I went with the chilli chicken with fragrant rice and vegetables. The chicken was delicious with the flavours of Indonesia coming through perfectly, symbolising traditional Indonesian cuisine. It was a generous offering that was accompanied by fresh salad and dessert. Metal cutlery also contributed to that premium feel. There’s something about metal cutlery on an aircraft that really makes a huge difference to me. A full stocked bar and selection of international wines was available. My only criticism is they didn’t have any bar snacks to accompany drinks ordered in the later stages of the flight.

Inflight Entertainment

4.5 / 5

The touchscreen entertainment system is easy to use and features a variety of movies, reality television, kids programs and games. There’s no shortage of things to watch. USB and underseat charging points are available to help you stay connected. On selected 777 and A330 aircraft Wi-Fi is available. It was available on our flight and worked perfectly. The first 15 minutes is free and packages range from USD 5- USD25 from then on, depending on duration.

Extra Information

Garuda Indonesia have really stepped it up with their new product. The décor, seat, amenities and generous culinary offerings, all contribute to making your experience a premium and unforgettable one. This new product is a game changer within the full service airline space. I highly recommend Garuda Indonesia if you are looking for a premium experience in economy.
