The new Tigerair

By Tue Oct 20, 2015

Tigerair Australia today rolled out the orange carpet and announced a number of major changes to make booking and travelling Tigerair better than ever.

The changes include:

-          New uniforms for cabin crew, pilots and check in staff.

-          New 14th Airbus A320 aircraft for Australia

-          New booking and check in system

-          New customer friendly website

-          New and improved call centre

-          New mobile app (coming soon)

-          Enhanced customer communications (like sms notifications and flight itineraries)

CEO Rob Sharp was at Tigerair’s head office at Melbourne Airport to reveal the changes as the airline transformation strategy continues.

“Today marks the next chapter of Tigerair’s evolution as we continue to transform budget air travel in Australia."

“When we rebranded to Tigerair and the joint venture with Virgin Australia was first launched in July 2013, we made a promise to Australian consumers that we would listen and we would change.

“The past couple of years have been focused on rebuilding the business and putting the right platform in place for future sustainable growth, with the customer at the core of everything we do.

“Today I can proudly say we are delivering on those promises. Our flights have never been consistently more punctual, our customer service never stronger and our customer satisfaction levels are now at an all-time high. It’s time to spread the word. A Tiger can change its stripes.

“We’re an airline that evolves based on customer feedback and demand.  All of the new product enhancements announced today makes it easier, more convenient and seamless than ever to fly Tigerair,” said Mr Sharp.

Geoffrey Thomas, Editor in Chief at AirlineRatings.com commented,  "This is positive news for the travelling public who will greatly appreciate the better call centre, which is important to solve inevitable problems when they arise."

He continued,  "The positive influence of Virgin Australia on the Tigerair brand is clear to see and good news for the travelling public.
Virgin Australia has taken the country's lowest cost airline and added a touch of class. All these initiatives are a big step forward for the customer experience,"

Tigerair’s newest addition to the fleet – a brand new Airbus A320 aircraft with new specification sharklets on the wingtips – will be based in Sydney from 8 December to facilitate more domestic flying around Australia including additional services between Sydney and Cairns and between Sydney and Adelaide. The airline has also recently announced new services between Melbourne and Coffs Harbour commencing 9 December and its first international services to Bali from Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide commencing March 2016 (subject to regulatory approval).

“As the ‘real airline for real people’ Tigerair’s new uniforms were inspired by staff with our staff in mind and symbolise the positive changes at Tigerair over the past few years. All of the changes announced today will provide a better customer experience on the ground and in the air.

“Today Tigerair takes another giant leap forward but we won’t stop in our quest for continual improvement in everything we do.”

Tigerair Australia will shortly launch a new brand advertising campaign in all key markets to highlight the changes in the air at Tigerair.
