The airline recently has been incorporated into the Dow Jones Sustainability Korea Index (DJSI Korea), a reputable sustainability evaluation index recognized worldwide. DJSI Korea is composed of the top 30 per cent of the 200 largest Korean companies by market capitalization in terms of sustainability.

DJSI is a global sustainable management evaluation index released annually by the world’s largest financial information provider, S&P Dow Jones Indices and evaluation agency S&P Global Switzerland SA.

Also, Korean Air has recently received a top grade in the Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) ESG evaluation of the airline industry sector.

As well in 2022 Korean Air received high scores from major ESG rating companies in Korea: an integrated grade A, for the third consecutive year from the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance and Sustainability (KCGS) and an overall grade AA from Sustinvest.

The high evaluation of Korean Air’s ESG performance in Korea and abroad is in line with its efforts to enhance ESG management throughout the company.

The airline established an ESG committee to closely review the company's major management decisions that significantly impact shareholder value and shareholders’ rights and interests.

While Korean Air continues its efforts across the company to bolster sustainability such as by issuing ESG bonds, introducing eco-friendly aircraft, and using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), the airline is also carrying out various corporate social responsibility activities such as transporting emergency relief supplies, supporting local communities, and collaborating closely with partners.

Last year Korean Air signed a business agreement with Seoul’s Mapo District to sponsor ‘Skypass Forest’, an urban green space to be fostered along the abandoned rail tracks along Gyeongui Line in Mapo.

This marked the first project announced under Korean Air’s ‘Green Skypass’ initiative. The airline plans to foster eco-friendly spaces to cope with climate change and work towards carbon neutralization, all of which Korean Air Skypass members directly participate in creating.
