Two Delta Airlines planes collided at New York’s LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday night, leaving one aircraft without a wing, according to CBS News. Video footage shows the wing of at least one plane breaking off in the impact. The collision also damaged the nose of one of the planes. One person was reportedly injured.

The incident occurred while both aircraft were taxiing. A CBS News producer on board Flight DL5047 said their plane, arriving from Charlotte and heading to the gate, was struck by a Delta regional jet that was taxiing past. Significant casualties were avoided, as the planes were moving at low speed at the time of the crash.

Images circulating on social media show one plane missing a wing and the other with a crushed nose, marked with the number 15480. Passengers can be seen deplaning onto the runway, with crew, emergency responders, and police surrounding the aircraft.

According to a statement from Delta: ‘The wing of an aircraft getting ready to take off to Roanoke, Virginia, hit the fuselage of an aircraft arriving from Charlotte, North Carolina. The rest of the airport's operations were not expected to be impacted…. Delta will work with all relevant authorities to review what occurred as safety of our customers and people comes before all else,” the statement from Delta said. "We apologize to our customers for the experience.”

The Delta Connection aircraft involved in the collision are operated by Endeavor Air.

LaGuardia Airport has not yet released a statement on the incident, and further details are awaited.

Both aircraft implicated were CRJ-900s
