Cathay Pacific has officially launched its 80th anniversary celebrations, unveiling a striking commemorative aircraft livery and announcing a year-long program of events under the theme “80 Years Together.” To mark the milestone, the airline will host a series of special events, initiatives and activations throughout 2026, celebrating eight decades of shared journeys with Hong Kong and the world.

Adorned with the airline’s iconic “lettuce leaf sandwich” design and 80th anniversary marking, the newly revealed livery pays tribute to the much-loved green-and-white striped paint scheme. It honours Cathay’s rich heritage while also symbolising the airline’s continued growth and evolution. A second “lettuce leaf sandwich” livery, to be applied to one of Cathay’s Boeing 747 freighters, will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Looking ahead, Lam highlighted Cathay’s long-term commitment to the future, pointing to investments of more than HK$100 billion across fleet renewal, cabin products, lounges and digital innovation. “As we work towards our refreshed vision of becoming our customers’ most loved service brand, we remain steadfast in our commitment to strengthening Hong Kong’s status as a leading international aviation hub,” he said, adding that with the continued support of its people, customers and partners, Cathay is well positioned to soar to even greater heights.
