Air New Zealand aims to turn heads with 20th inflight safety video

Inflight safety video pioneer Air New Zealand is gearing up for a milestone 20th production and initial indications are that there is still plenty of fertile ground for airline’s renowned proclivity for humor. At least that’s what a teaser on  Instagram suggests with an aircraft-shaped treehouse designated the “Atree20”. The reference is a clever play on the airline’s Airbus A320 fleet and perhaps the big surprise here is that Irish-born Qantas boss Alan Joyce didn’t think of it first. The video is due to hit aircraft in March and Air New Zealand general manager global brand and content Jodi Williams told AirlineRatings it would be the charming story of a young Kiwi girl and her new friend.
“It will have a strong emphasis on the importance of Kiwis and visitors taking care of our own backyard,’’ Williams said. “This will see a diverse range of locations featured ranging from Fiordland through to the islands of the Hauraki Gulf. “As always expect the safety video to have a few surprises and be uniquely Air New Zealand.” One interesting aspect is the Kiwi director, Josh Frizzell. Anybody who has watched New Zealand films is aware that the land of the long white cloud punches well above its weight. Frizzell is responsible for some genuinely funny advertisements but is also an award-winning music video producer and has won a bronze Lion at Cannes.
He has directed some of New Zealand’s top-rating TV dramas and is in post-production for a new mini-series for Warner’s TV, a black comedy called “Fresh Eggs” and starring Danielle Cormack and John Rhys-Davies. Those in need of as laugh, and who isn’t these days, could do worse than visit Frizzell’s website at https://eight.com.au/videos/josh-frizzell-2/ And because it's getting close to Christmas, here's a reminder of a previous Air New Zealand video:   [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Jt54Z1jR7Q[/embed]
