Air India Phuket-Delhi flight hit by turbulence, crew hospitalised

Air India has confirmed that flight AI2379 from Phuket to Delhi encountered turbulence in the cruise on 4 August, causing a momentary change in altitude.
The Airbus A320 landed safely at Delhi Indira Gandhi International just after 11am with 134 passengers on board. All passengers and crew disembarked normally.
An Air India team with medical support met the aircraft on arrival. Between eight and 10 people went to the Medanta medical centre at the airport for precautionary examination. The airline says a small number of passengers and crew picked up minor injuries that needed a medical assessment. It has reported no serious injuries.
"The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew remain Air India's highest priority," the airline said in a statement. It added that it is supporting those affected and cooperating with the relevant authorities as part of the investigation.
The aircraft involved is roughly seven years old.
Turbulence remains the leading cause of in-flight injury on commercial aircraft worldwide. Injuries almost always involve people who are out of their seat or unbelted when the aircraft moves. Cabin crew carry the highest exposure because they spend the most time on their feet during cruise.
