Took the flight from Shenzhen to Dubai. Their service is good and special check in for business which is quite smooth. However, their aircrafts are quite old and the seatback tv is very old. The seats have almost zero privacy with almost nothing blocking you from the aisle.

Took China Southern from Dubai to Shanghai with a layover in Wuhan on business class. Their service was excellent but the cabin is a bit old. The first part of the trip is on a B787, and the second part is on a B737.

I want to share my extremely frustrating experience with China Southern Airlines regarding pet transportation. Before purchasing my ticket, I contacted the airline to confirm whether I could check in my small dog (a 7 kg Jack Russell Terrier) on my flight from Hong Kong. The airline clearly stated that pet check-in was allowed, so I proceeded to buy my ticket. However, when I later requested to reserve a space for my pet, the airline suddenly changed its position and informed me that pet check-in is not allowed on flights from Hong Kong. When I pointed out their previous confirmation, they ignored my concerns, repeated generic responses, and refused to take any responsibility for the misinformation they provided. This situation is unacceptable. I bought my ticket based on their confirmation, and now I am left with no options. They refuse to offer any solution, alternative flight, or refund. This feels like intentional misleading of customers, and their lack of accountability is shocking. I believe it is important to share this case to warn other passengers about China Southern Airlines' unreliable communication, misleading information, and poor customer service.

I flew to Indonesia with them in march last year. I am a vegetarian. I chose vegetarian meals which arrived and included sushi. I got very sick within 8 hours of eating with them and for 3 days I had watery diarrhoea or just fizzing. Sorry for graphic description it was the sickest I've ever been. I'm blaming the sushi as the alternative is they fed me meat. I flew on my birthday which though was not ruined as didn't get I'll till following calendar day, was not a nice followup.

WARNING: Do not fly China Southern Airlines. What looks cheap is cheap. My flight home was cancelled. Stuck in Shanghai needing to be back at work. Refused a substitute flight. Ended up costing me over $800 AUD which was more than the $500 AUD original return ticket. I still have not received the refund for the original cancelled flight.

Worst Airline experience and total lack of customer service. Only a few weeks before we left China Southern changed our booking to Guangzhou-Hangzhou with only 1.40 hours between flights at Guangzhou. With the holidays booked we had no choice but to accept the change. Arrival at Guangzhou: no one waiting to help us (promised in Melbourne). Rushed everywhere, but arrived at the gate only 1 minute!!! after closing. The airplan had not even closed the door. But no effort from the personnel to try to give help getting us on board. Closed is closed. As we had done everything we could we expected China Southern to change our tickets so we could get home. Being sent from one desk to another the only answer we got was that flights were on time and they had no influence on immigration for the time they take. No new tickets to get home, and the way we were treated was terrible. After 3 hours of discussions we had to buy new tickets to get home! At home we complained again at the customer service, but again the same answer. This airline is a disgrace!

Out of the 75+ times I've flown this was the worst experience I have ever had with an airline. After two weeks in Thailand we arrived at Phuket airport at 2AM only to find out our flight was cancelled. Not a big deal - the airline representative quickly rebooked us for a flight on a different airline and sent us to a hotel for a couple hours of sleep. When we arrived back at the airport at 9AM, we were told we didn't have tickets and were sent to information, where we were told the airline representative never booked us those flights because she said they were full and instead booked us for one at midnight that night - in 15 hours. Information confirmed that the flight was in fact NOT full, but couldn't make any changes since the airline themselves had to make them. So - for 3 hours - until the flight we wanted to be on took off - we tried to contact China Southern Airlines but they would not answer their phones. We tried calling other airports, but their China Southern staff said they wouldn't help us. We tried the hotline, who said all they could do was write a report. Needless to say we missed that flight and it wasn't until 5PM that a China Southern Airlines Rep showed up. When we explained the situation they were cold and unapologetic, refused to upgrade our flight or even let us pay to upgrade our flight, and didn't even offer meal vouchers. We argued with her for 20 minutes before walking about. Overall it took almost 48 hours for us to get home and we had the worst customer service experience you could ever imagine. Never flying with them again.

I have flown China Southern many times and every time they have been wonderful to me. The food can be a little different for Westerners as it is Chinese fair, but if you give it a try you will find it always fresh and tasty. I like the small things like on long haul they still give you those nice little goody bags with socks and a toothbrush. Plus being a big man all airlines can be uncomfortable, but China Southern is one of the few who goes out of their way to sit me with a spare seat beside me if they possibly can, which is not only great for my comfort but means I am not encroaching on another persons space. The English of the crew can have a strong accent, so listen carefully, but they are patient and very kind and will help even if you have to ask them to repeat themselves. China Southern is easily my second favourite Airline in the World, behind only Air New Zealand.

I was in Bali last week while the volcano was spewing ash and airports/airlines were closing. On Dec 2nd I went to the airport for my flight leaving Denpasar at 1am Dec 3rd,Flight Number: CZ0626. There, I was told by China Southern Airlines that my flight had been cancelled, and it was up to me to make phone calls to change my flight and book a new one. I had no help from the airline and we all felt abandoned and unsafe there in Bali. When I had my travel agency call, they were told the China Southern help desk we needed to use was CLOSED and could not help, but to try to book a new flight with a different airline on our own and call back Monday to talk about getting a refund for my cancelled flight. So after I booked a flight with a different airline that was flying, we called China Southern, and they would not issue a refund! After they told us we were cancelled and could not help us, now they wont give me my money back! I am being told that some agent in Jakarta (Agent # 13553) issued me a new ticket…. but I don’t even know how this would have happened. neither me, or my agent had been informed of such a transaction. To give someone a reservation with no authority, no permission, no information, no confirmation and then when the person doesn’t know about that flight and will not be issues a refund is simply unlawful. I will never deal with this airline again. NOT ONLY were we left to fend for ourselves in an unstable natural disaster situation, but then when we do what we are told, we are lied to and wont be given our money back for a ticket me were not able to use due to the airline’s cancellation…. NOT MY CANCELLATION. A China Southern Airlines agent changed my ticket without me knowing it and now that’s all they have on record. and every phone agent I speak to tells me its my problem I missed my flight. WHAT? This airline is a scam. They will not help you when you are in danger, and then they will steal you money.

You loose what you saved on CS ticket on your connection flight; food and any of your planned activities. Total delay on 2-legged flight was never less then 4 hours. Baggage lost 2 times from 4 family trips. Doesn't worth it at all.

this was the worst airline ever had, from brisbane to guangzhou, when having 2nd glass of wine, ask for peanut, been told only had bread roll, nothing else. she insists i can have bread roll with wine. ask for more wine, been told no more wine, basically only carry one bottle.. food is not enough, ask for more food, been told only have bread roll left, when i went to back cabin, she is having the business class food... wtx

If you ever contacted the Customer Services at China Southern Airline, you would find they are extremely unhelpful, misleading, or simply unresponsive and have zero sense of customer services. The level of incompetence can go way beyond your comprehension. All airlines or companies would have incidents, customer services are there to help the customers to handle these ordeals, but definitely not the responsibilities for the Customer Service at China Southern. We asked them when we could hear back from them, first was 3-5 business days, then extended to 7 business days, then 10 business days, still no response and told us that they have been working on it, but no dates can be provided, asked who we could reach out to escalate the matter, they gave us a wrong number and extension. I almost doubt if their management have trained them to do so, otherwise how they can be so off?! Stay away from them!!!

I believe all the bad reviews about the Customer Services of China Southern Airline. We chose it for our Asia trips earlier this summer 5 flights in total, 1 flight (3 tickets) was wasted. We couldn’t believe we would have run into so many troubles with their customer services. Things happen, that’s why the customer services are there for. However, the customer services at China Southern Airline is there to drive you to mental house, ” like many previous reviews mentioned - please don’t be fooled by their cheaper price (actually they are not that cheaper either). They will listen to your complains, but WILL NOT do anything, and continue reading their script, left you wondering you talk to a machine. Most ironically, every time, they finished the phone call with “is there anything else I can help you?” ” They totally have no idea what customer service is ” their mission is to waste customers’ time and aggravate customers further!!! Terrible and incompetent!!! I wish their management would read through these reviews, or they simply don't care.

Have taken 8 International sectors in business now, and 4 domestic/regional in economy. It's a good airline that tries very hard. Business class not to the same standard as class leaders but still very acceptable, and of course much more affordable. The decision to use/not use this airline is not their fault. It is the lucky dip of delays in Chinese airports. We got caught big time in July at Guangzhou. Boarded on time at 11:15pm for 12:05am takeoff. Sat on the airplane until 6:00am when we took off. No announcements from the cockpit and the cabin crew tried their best, but really very difficult time. There was a near riot in economy, with the police called, and one passenger removed. By the time we deplaned in Amsterdam, we had been on the aircraft for 19 hours. I have read a lot about the reasons for these delays and on balance, I think that flying internationally via China is too large a risk; particularly if there are connections to meet. A shame, because the interval times to Europe via China are actually very good, and China Southern particularly is an excellent carrier for its price.

DO NOT EVER FLY THIS AIRLINE. You get what you pay for, which in my experience, was the worst airline and customer service I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. On the day of my flight out of SFO, I could not check-in online or see the flight status. My flight to Guangzhou was delayed 4 hours and the airline did not bother to send any flight updates the morning of, even though they knew by 9am that my 2pm flight was going to be delayed. The check-in counter staff were unorganized and not at all empathetic to the situation. My boyfriend asked if we could be upgraded for free to premium economy to ease the pain of our delayed flight. The staff assured us we were first in line for upgrades if seats were available. We later realized they only said this so we would go away, since this airline doesn�t offer free seat upgrades. They wanted to charge us an extra $400 for two more inches of leg room. Our 4 hour layover caused us to miss our connecting flight to Phuket in Guangzhou. We were promised by the SFO staff that we would receive a hotel voucher so we could get some rest before our 10pm flight out of China. We arrived in Guangzhou at 2am. I had a flight from Brisbane to Guangzhou and from Guangzhou to Delhi Both flights were delayed. Passengers were not informed and it was really difficult for us to reach Delhi 4.5 hrs It was the first time I flew with them so I wont just dismiss this airline. Barring delays the experience was good.

I flew Premium Economy from Perth to London, the service from the stewards and the food was great - the huge disappointment came from the appalling behaviour and lack of consideration displayed by a majority of the passengers - particularly on the China (Guangzhou) to London leg of the journey. I had to contend with bare feet being pushed between my seat and the adjoining seat from passengers seated behind me - loud converations throughout the trip even when the cabin was in darkness and most of the passengers were trying to sleep. The tiolet floors were awash with urine and every surface in the cubicle was wet. As a frequent long haul passenger I was shocked by the poor behaviour displayed by fellow travellers on China Southern. I won't be flying with this airline again.

Due to bad weather of the city in the preorder flight, our flight was delayed about 3 hours. But we were offered meals, apples and bottled water. Andonce again there were meals during this flight which included chicken rice or seafood rice, bread and two orange sections. And they were good. Nothing to complain except for the delay.

Horrible experience with China Southern Airlines! Flew from Guangzhou, China to Kathmandu, Nepal on CAN, and arrived on time with no problem! My luggage did not... I heard this happens often! On my way home, they inspected luggage, and took items from my suitcase!!! I'll never fly with China Southern again!!!!!... nor will I EVER recommend to others!

Our inaugural flight on China Southern airlines this week between Melbourne & London proved to be a most positive experience. We especially enjoyed the legroom on the A330 - 200 flight between Melbourne & Guangzhou, the welcome overnight stay in Guangzhou, the excellent food service & exceptional cabin service all the way through to London. I would like to commend the airline for their choice of staff & in particular Mr Li Zheng Yao for his cabin service during the Guangzhou to London flight. Thank you China Southern!

I was really worried about flying with China Southern as I had read mixed reviews but couldn't have been happier. We flew London-Guanzou-Melbourne with our 3 month old daughter. On both legs of flight we had the basinette seats at the front of the plane which gave us plenty of room. Flight attendants were very helpful throughout and especially as we had the baby. I pre ordered vegetarian meals which were actually really good for plane food! Plenty of choice of movies etc... Smooth change in Guangzhou... No issues and really good value for the cheap price.

Their website is the worst I have used. You can't check in, can't buy tickets, can't book meal. Cell phone app is the same, basically nothing works. If it is not the only airline has straight fight from Guangzhou to NYC, I would never use this company. We had to buy ticket from a different website. When I called their custom service to book vegan meal, they asked me to email a copy of my passport to an email address that did not work to just apply for a meal and I must do it 24 hours before departure. It was the most ridiculous thing that I ever experienced, I used so many airlines, none of them require a copy of passport to get vegan meals, you just checked in and picked the seats and the meals online. Furthermore, since you can't check in online you can't your seats, we tried several computers in the hotel and cell phone, you simply can't check in. We called the custom service to pick seats, the representative told me the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard in my life, you must use the Chinese bank cards to buy seats, they would not accept any credit cards.When we got on the plane and tried to upgrade our seats, their credit card machine did not work.

A very unpleasant experience. I was travelling from Sydney to Vancouver via Guangzhou with China Southern, and then WestJet to Calgary. In Sydney they couldn't get my bags checked to Calgary for some reason. I waited at the check in for almost 2 hours with them deleting and rebooking me, only for the attendant to mess up on my last name so they couldn't find me in the System. They then told me that my bags would have to get checked to Guangzhou and I'd have to pick them up and fast track everyone and a staff would be waiting for me to show me where to go. I had 10 minutes before the plane took off at this point. Get to my gate, the attendant finally said that my bags were now getting checked to Calgary, arrive in China with the impression that someone would be waiting for me. Nothing. Go to transfers to international and they told me that since I've been deleted in the system so many times that I had to pick my baggage up here and check everything in and go through security. I go wait for my bags, nothing comes out. I go to the baggage claim help desk and after 10 minutes they finally tell me that in fact my bags are going to be checked into Calgar.. I'm very disappointed in this c

I travelled with CSA from Australia to Los Angeles and i honestly found my experience as fantastic. Cabin Crew were like Angels indeed. I could see how clean is the Airplane and how good and clean is the Food. CSA were realy generous. My experience is my best in my life

I fly regularly with China Southern. I travel economy, premium economy and business class depending on the trip duration. I always finds the staff exceptional. Always ready to help when you need something. I have on many occasions had the flights not run on time. I have found this is pretty normal for ALL airlines in China out of the major airports. Never have I found the problem to be an issue with the plane. Normally air traffic issues, weather or some other problem outside their control. Planes are as comfortable as any other standard plane in this day and age. Have tried many other airlines in China from Australia and always go back to China Southern.

No problem encounter from China Southern air, although some cabin crew staff does not speak fluently in English except in the business class. I was bound back from Kathmandu to Phnom penh but in economy class, my mobile was in airplane mode, i was just taking picture at the view window, when the cabin crew spoke to me in Chinese. I think he wants my mobile to turn off but at least its in airplane mode. Its better that some of them speak in english rather being rudeness in other languages spoken.

Well done China Southern Airline!! I missed my connecting flight to Brisbane due to runway repairs. Totally out of their control. So they put me up in the Holiday Inn free of charge until my next flight. Late check out was 2pm so when I went to check out the concierge told me they had paid for another day so that I could leave at 6pm to get to the airport. Free meals breakfast lunch and dinner.

Price is very affordable. its the xheapest flight to asia during december. but they have a Terribly system. When we checked in our connecting flight from YVR to CAN to MNL, we couldn't get a seat together even with the next flight. also they couldn't print out my boarding pass for CAN to MNL. so I have to get my bpass in CAN. Now when we were boarding at CAN to MNL they asked us to checked in our carry on to make space for overhead storage. but then when we got to MNL we were told our carry on will come in the next day. a lot of passengers complained. It was a horrible experience. although the food was great and in flight service was good. it is still good for the money.

Have booked a flight to china for march 2017 back in May this year. I phoned and asked to be upgraded to emergency exit row for extra leg room and was told yes and it will be an extra $200 each way. I accepted price difference and was told that they will send me an invoice closer to the date. Spoke to them today and was told that I am not booked for emergency exit row as it is reserved for people who speak mandarin so they can assist others in an emergency. What about the passengers who only speak english. They are a racist airline and should be boycotted

Caught flight CZ343 on 2nd Oct 2016. It was a full flight, I was in row 4. The cabin crew were absolutely brilliant. They were friendly, patient and always with a wonderful smile to serve the passengers. There was a family with 3 young children; they were very noisy and the youngest child constantly in crying mode. With little sleep in previous night and with all these nonsense noisy, it caused some very bad headache for me, but the cabin staff did their best to manage the situation for all the passengers in the same cabin. Thank you for making the flight much more pleasant for me and for the rest of the passengers. Well done, the team lead and staff.

1. We had to change our flight dates and my husband was on hold on the phone for over 1hr, twice! Found out they also originally keyed in our DOB wrong so we wouldn't have been able to travel anyway with the initial booking. 2. Flight from Guangzhou to Perth CZ319 27/9. The worst ever- and we are frequent travellers with many different airlines. Aircon in aircraft didn't work on 37C/85% RH day, after we boarded through bus and staircase in the heat (in some other cities the air bridge for this airline even had HEATER on in summer). Staff only apologised but did not offer any consolation- did anyone think of cold water, cold towel, anything? We were taxiing for almost one hour- it was a sauna, unbearable and unacceptable. Do you know that people could die from heat stroke? 3. Staff has no interest or regards in passengers comfort. They always scurrying around and not attentive. On a better note food is fine for Chinese standard. Overall, please do yourselves a favour, especially if travelling with kids- do not use China Southern. It will never be our choice again.

Was pretty disappointed by the flight and the service. I had already checked in online making sure I had a window seat for my 2 long haul flights. When I went to drop my bag off I was asked if I would like an upgrade, assuming this would be better I said yes however when I boarded the plane I found I was in the front row right in the middle, we were next to the toilets and people kept standing right in front of me, stepping on my bag. When I told the air hostess she just shrugged and didn't do anything. The seat on the next flight was worse, right in the middle of a row right near the back of the plane, I cannot see how that was an upgrade. There was an entertainment system but I found the selection of films/tv shows quite disappointing , my headphones didn't work and when I asked for some new ones the air hostess said they didn't have any more. The level of English spoken by the crew was quite bad, this is fine but then don't market yourself as an international airline then, I found them to be really unhelpful. To be fair this was the cheapest way for me to get from London to Australia but I will be paying the extra hundred quid next time to go with a decent airline.

My wife and I found the flight on China Southern to be very, very poor quality. The staff need to learn how to smile and help customers. Many are very sullen and do not appear to enjoy their job. The food provided can only be described as the worst that we have ever experienced. We were very hungry as we could literally not eat very much that was provided. Our seats had no cushioning on the back . . . they literally had wooden backs with a light cover of it making them unacceptably uncomfortable! Finally, on the longest leg between Amsterdam and Guongzou we had no entertainment. There were no individual screens provided and the 'cabin' screens that were available were used to show one child's movie then ten minutes of another before it was turned off with no explanation. We had 10 hours with no entertainment at all! The website suggests that wifi entertainment is available. Our experience on two flights would say that this is not true.

Never Recommend China Southern Flights I took Chian Southern flight from Brisbane to London. During 9hr flight from Brisbane to Guangzhou and 12hr flights from Guangzhou to London, only 2 meals were given to the passengers without any snacks. How can you think to survive passengers by only 2 meals without any snacks in long international flight? This is completely inhumane and barbaric. While serving the second meal of London flight, I had given choice either beef with potato or fish with rice. I chose beef with potato. But cabin crew later informed me that there is no more meal beef with potato. I had no option to take fish with rice. The quality of the meal was absolutely below standard and the quantity was insufficient. EDITORS COMMENT: Virtually every airline only offers two meals on 12 hour flights these days. There are snacks but they are on request or available in the snack bar in the galley

Flight attendants looks like salespersons and they're kind a not friendly in assisting some foreign passengers. I think it's beacause most of them are not very good in speaking english. The food was ok. The airline should train they're staff more in speaking english.

After leaving Melbourne, heading for Amsterdam with a layover in Ganzhou, the cabin crew served lunch then insisted all window shades were drawn and cabin lights turned off. We never saw a cabin attendant for a further 4-5 hours. The same thing happened on our return flight from Ganzhou to Melbourne.

The worst airline possible!!! Cancelled my flight without notification, missed my connecting flight. The next day after a night in a dodgy hotel provided by them I got information that I'm not on a passenger list... Got downgraded to economy, got home 19 hours later and in the end they are telling me that they cannot accept my complaint! Joke, not an airline. Never even think about flying with them!

Worst experience will never fly with this airline again. Not on the itinerary was a customs stop in Wuhan. Flying from Perth to San Francisco arrived at airport and went to international departure, however after standing in line for 30 mins we were sent to domestic and had to spend 1-2 hours to get to gate, went through customs filling out form then the unscheduled stop in Wuhan -- went through customs AGAIN. Chinese have a lot to learn with regards to customer service. Really why stop in Wuhan to disembark, take a bus--go through customs for a 2nd time-- take a bus to get on same plane. So many people dissatisfied. Never fly this airline
