The trans-Tasman bubble is set to partially reopen to travelers from four Australian states next week, but with a pre-departure testing requirement according to website Stuff.co.nz.

New Zealand's Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins said that Cabinet had made the decision in principle to lift the pause to allow travelers from South Australia, ACT, Tasmania, and Victoria to travel to New Zealand from midnight on Sunday, July 4.

”Cabinet carefully weighed up the evidence this morning and we consider that partially lifting the pause at this point is an appropriate course of action, particularly when bolstered with the introduction of a mandatory pre-departure test,” Hipkins told stuff.co.nz.

There are a variety of conditions and services to New South Wales, Western Australia, the Northern Territory, and Queensland are still paused with NSW considered the highest risk.

Hipkins said the situation would be reviewed on Monday by Cabinet.
