An Aerolineas Argentinas Airbus A330 performing flight AR-1303 from Miami, Florida to Buenos Aires in Argentina with 192 passengers, has struck severe turbulence injuring 15 passengers. According to Aviation Herald, the “A330 was in cruise at 39,000ft about 90nm north of Rio Branco, in Brazil deviating around thunderstorm cells when the aircraft encountered the severe turbulence causing an altitude deviation of more than -700 feet and +1500 feet” Accordi9ng to the website the “ADS-B transponder reported climb rates in excess of 2200 fpm and sink rates in excess of 2700 fpm.”

Read our Concorde 15th anniversary special  The captain requested medical services available upon arrival in Buenos Aires. The crew continued the flight to Buenos Aires for a landing about 4 hours later. Eight passengers were taken to a hospital.
