The iconic Australian carrier picked up the coveted awards for Best Lounges and was named 6th in the ratings agencies' Top Twenty-Five airlines, while Jetstar its low-cost subsidiary was named Best Low-Cost Airline Australia/Pacific.

Qantas Airways, the world’s oldest continuously operating airline, was again a top-10 carrier, coming in at number six.

AirlineRatings.com Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas said that "once again the Qantas Group is amongst the winners and while it has been a challenging 12 months the airline group, like all airlines, is slowly getting on top of the operational and supply chain issues."

Qantas Flights Lounges Come Out on Top

Aussies are spoilt for choice when it comes to airport lounges, and Qantas has worked hard to build up its excellent network of lounges.

Its international First Class lounges are a favourite with well-heeled travellers while its international business-class lounges are up there with the best. New features such as the gin bar in its new London Heathrow lounge and an outdoor barbecue area at its Perth International transit lounge have helped to enhance its reputation.

One of its great strengths, however, is an impressive domestic lounge network.

Qantas offers not just one flavour of the domestic lounge but up to three, depending on the location: the invitation-only Chairman’s Lounge, business class lounges, and the famous Qantas Club.

The domestic lounges offer attractive perks such as complimentary seasonal food, Australian wine and beer, wi-fi, hydration bars, and the all-important barista coffee.

Qantas Brisbane lounge

The airline recently opened a new First Lounge and expanded Business Lounge at Singapore Changi Airport.

Going forward Qantas is building a brand new First Lounge at London Heathrow Airport which is expected to open in late 2025 to align with the launch of direct flights between the United Kingdom and the east coast of Australia.

Downunder it plans a relocation in 2024 of its lounge into a new Hobart Qantas Club with a larger premise in line with the terminal redevelopment.

It also is building a new, Regional Lounge to open in 2024 in Broome that will double the capacity of the current lounge plus new lounges in Adelaide (Domestic Business) and Port Hedland are coming in 2024.

The Qantas Hong Kong International Lounge was closed for a number of years during the pandemic. The lounge underwent a refresh and reopened on 3 May 2023, along with the return of the popular Yum Cha trolley.

Melbourne International Business Lounge

A proposed redevelopment of the existing Business Lounge will feature an expanded footprint and a new signature food and beverage offering. The refresh will be carried out in stages from late 2023.

Sydney International Business Lounge

A planned redesign and rebuild of the current space will increase capacity by 40 per cent. The redesign will include a new food and beverage offering, which will begin in early 2024.

Plus refurbishments of the Auckland International Lounge and Adelaide Qantas Club in late 2023.
