MH370: Possible small panel discounted!

By Sat Aug 1, 2015

Reports of a small internal aircraft door part or panel being washed up on a beach at the Reunion Island just north of where the Boeing 777 wing part was found last week have now been discounted.

On Sunday local time, UK SkyNews and the BBC said an object was found close to the capital, Saint-Denis, and had Chinese and Malay writing on it and was understood to be from the inside of an aircraft.

MH370 was a code-share flight with China Southern Airlines and thus any internal printed instructions would have been in English, Malay and Chinese.

SkyNews reported that the local police impounded the part which was about (1 foot) 30cm square.

Initial attempts to get confirmation were rebuffed with a no comment.

However it was later confirmed that the object was part of a ladder.

Malaysian director general of civil aviation Azharuddin Abdul Rahman confirmed to Associated Press that the mystery metal object had nothing to do with the investigation involving MH 370.

"There is a sort of 'treasure hunt' mentality that is taking hold and people are calling us for everything," a local source close to the investigation told AP.

Malaysian transport minister Liow Tiong Lai urged all parties to allow this investigation process to take its course. “I reiterate this is for the sake of the next of kin of the loved ones of MH370 who would be anxiously awaiting news and have suffered much over this time.”

"We will make an announcement once the verification process has been completed," he told AP.
