Indian airline Vistara will operate its last flight on November 11th after which point it will officially be absorbed into Air India.

Starting from September 3, 2024, Vistara customers will gradually no longer be able to book flights for travel on or after November 12, 2024. From this date, all Vistara aircraft will be operated by Air India, and bookings for routes served by these aircraft will be redirected to Air India’s website. Until November 11, 2024, Vistara will continue to accept bookings and operate flights as usual.

A Message From the CEO’s

Vinod Kannan, CEO of Vistara, expressed gratitude to customers for their support over the past decade, stating, “As we advance in our growth journey, we want to emphasize that this merger is about offering more choices with a larger fleet and a wider network, while enhancing the overall travel experience. Vistara and Air India are dedicated to making this transition smooth and hassle-free. We are excited about this new phase and look forward to welcoming our customers again soon—as Air India.”

Campbell Wilson, CEO & Managing Director of Air India, added, “Cross-functional teams from Air India and Vistara have been collaborating for months to ensure a seamless transition of aircraft, flight crew, ground staff, and, most importantly, our valued customers into the new Air India. Our joint team is committed to offering an expanded network, additional flight options, an enhanced frequent flyer program, and the best of both airlines. We are grateful for the support of our loyal customers as we build a world-class, global airline with an Indian heart.”

While customers will still see Vistara branding after 11 November, the airline’s fleet will eventually be painted in Air India liveries

As the merger progresses, regular updates will be provided on Vistara and Air India’s websites, social media channels, and via email. These updates will include information on web check-in, lounge access, ancillary services, and other relevant details. Dedicated teams from both airlines will work diligently to ensure a smooth transition for all customers.
