How times flies and to prove the point, Virgin Australia reminds us that it launched its inaugural flight between Sydney and Los Angeles in 2009. Since arriving at LAX airport for the very first time, Virgin Australia has now flown 4.1 million passengers to and from Los Angeles from Australian cities on almost 14,500 flights. To celebrate an entire decade since Virgin Australia first said G’day to the USA, the airline is giving Aussies the chance to win flights and two nights’ accommodation for you and three mates to live the life in LA.

The airline just wants you to also flashback and show how far you have come in ten years in the fashion stakes.

Kevin Rudd was Prime Minister of Australia
  • The iPhone 3GS launched
  • We were glued to our TV’s watching Gossip Girl
  • Peanut Butter was the craze
  • Neon was everything, and so were thin eyebrows and gladiator sandals
  • The top song of the year on Australia’s charts was ‘I Gotta Feeling’ by The Black Eyed Peas
  • Virgin Australia had almost 6,000 employees
  • Virgin Australia’s loyalty program, Velocity Frequent Flyer, had 1.8 million members
Ten years later, here’s how 2019 is shaping up:
  • Australia has had seven more Prime Ministers
  • The iPhone 10S is now the latest model iPhone
  • Game of Thrones season 8 is about to drop
  • The current top song is ‘7 rings’ by Ariana Grande
  • We love Peanut Butter more than ever
  • Australians will be wearing tie-dye, fancy flats, and sensible shorts
  • Virgin Australia now has almost its entire fleet enabled with WiFi
  • Virgin Australia flies to over 50 destinations domestically and internationally and 465 destinations globally via our codeshare partners
  • Virgin Australia has over 10,000 employees
  • The Velocity Frequent Flyer program now has over 9 million members
