On Saturday, March 4th my fiance and I were due to come back to NYC from the Azores. Our flight was to leave Ponta Delgada at 7AM and then we had a connecting flight out of Lisbon at 4:55PM . At the tail end of our trip I severely injured myself hiking and broke my right leg and wanted to return back to New York for medical attention and rest. Our flight that morning at 7AM was cancelled at at the time we were due to take off from the airport. Minimal information was given by the TAP staff, through other passengers we were told it was a "first come first serve" basis to get tickets for a new flight to Lisbon. As I was injured, it was difficult for us to get back to the TAP airlines service desk and we finally got in line we were told we would need to take a flight at 1PM which means we'd miss our connecting flight back to NYC.I am disappointed in the organization of the Ponta Delgada airport in regard to this matter. I hope the staff at Ponta Delgada will receive remediation in protocol for flight cancellations and prioritizing passengers with earlier connecting flights.
