A tale of 2 planes. Melbourne - Abu Dhabi - London return, Melb to Abu Dhabi, 14 hours, Boeing 777. An old dog of a plane. Interior was tired and well past its used-by date. The touch screen was infuriating - it barely responded to commands and was not bright enough, the wired controller didn't work and the plane noise was terrible. Service was friendly but the food was ordinary. Sweet banana cake with custard is not breakfast! Business class didn't look too flash either as I walked through to the back. Didn't enjoy this flight at all. Abu Dhabi to London, 7 hours, Airbus A380. Beautiful plane with a lovely interior, more space and super quiet inside. You don't even need noise cancelling headphones, because the hum is barely noticeable. Touchscreen was great. Service good. Comfy seat. An excellent experience. Would go with Etihad again but only if I was on the A380 all the way.
