Travelled round-trip LAX - Manila on PAL, my 11th trip in 3 years. One of the worst airlines in many respects, one of the best in others. Prices have not gone down even though oil prices have. On-line booking is very complex, web site crashes frequently, you have to call and book on phone, then they won't honor on-line fare, even though it's THEIR fault. If you are lucky enough to get lowest fare class ticket you don't get mileage credit in their loyalty program, not sure how that develops loyalty. Food in economy is horrible, one of their in-flight mags talked about celebrity chefs developing new menus for business class, hasn't filtered down to economy yet. They don't even offer salt and pepper to cover up the taste. On Feb flight from LAX to Manila I found out after I arrived at LAX the flight was going to stop in Guam for fuel, 2 extra hours. Not notified in advance. Plane was Airbus A340, cramped inside, small fuel tank too. On return flight only 5 or 6 entertainment consoles worked on entire plane, no offer of compensation, drinks, NOTHING. But, crew is generally awesome, helpful, friendly, genuinely very nice people, they make up for some of the shortcomings.
