This week I flew Qatar to London and back. I live in Canberra so I flew from Adelaide. It was an A350 from Adelaide to Doha, then a 777 from Doha to London. On the return journey, an A380 from London to Doha and an A350 to Adelaide from there. The Airbus flights were a breeze -- particularly the A380, where there's plenty of space to walk around, but even the A350 in 3-3-3 setup was pretty comfortable. The 777 in 3-4-3 setup was like taking a seven-hour flight on a 737. I'm relatively tall (193cm) and on the 777 my shoulders overhang the armrest. By contrast, I was able to get about 8 hours' sleep on the Airbus flights. The meals were generally pretty good and the service was uniformly excellent, particularly the Italian flight attendant who saved breakfast for me when I was asleep. The entertainment system was really well stocked. One downside was the repetitive, 'inspiring' music played at all times when the plane is on the ground; I got pretty sick of hearing that after 4 flights in a week. I would definitely fly Qatar again.
