Passenger is a 76 years old woman with multiple health issues, does not speak any English. She was traveling from JFK to SVX via Istanbul. In violation of the regulations concerning the rights of persons with reduced mobility, the requested special assistance was not provided by Turkish Airlines. The passenger was denied boarding the aircraft although she was present at the gate and checked in for the flight, was stranded at the airport for more than 2 days, denied accommodation, food and interpreter for 17 hours, charged $495 for the same flight leaving in 2 days, and was laughed at and treated with contempt by Turkish Airlines staff. The ordeal was deeply traumatizing for the passenger, and given her old age and health condition, life-threatening.
