I usually use Southwest Airlines, and would recommend them to anyone flying. However, I've had to use American Airlines twice in the past year or so and BOTH times I have lost more than $350 due to flights being changed. American Airlines is unable to offer any compensation or costumer support in these matters. I've bought insurance on my flight and apparently that does not even cover my flight. This is extremely frustrating and should be addressed. If you want to lose money and have a terrible experience flying, please chose American Airlines. They promise to get you from A to B, but after you've given your arm and leg. This is true compassion and caring for their costumes, only if you paid the additional $200 fee. EDITORS COMMENT: Only the most expensive flexible fares allow for cheap or zero charge cancellation and change fees. This is across all airlines. Us consumers really need to read the fine print and if we think a cancellation might be needed then buy the more expensive fare.
