My first long haul flight and my honeymoon, it was awful. In the run up to the flight, the time was changed 7 times. The plane I booked, a new 777 was changed last minute to a 20 year old airbus. I wouldn't have flown with them if this was the plane advertised in the first place. On the direct flight from Heathrow to Manilla there were no TV's so had to hold an iPad, the seats were very small and cramped and i was surprised by the poor quality of the food. The only saving grace was the amazing staff on the flight. They were genuinely very pleasant. PAL are impossible to get hold of to speak to. The complaints are handled via an online form which they don't respond to. The staff at the gate aren't interested and shrugged their shoulders at me when i tried to speak to them. Due to technical problems with the plane and the flight being delayed for 8 hours, we ended up flying home a day late with Cathay and it was a much nicer experience. Simply put, i will never fly with PAL again. Don't be fooled by the lure of the direct flight. When it's cramped, uncomfortable, with poor food and entertainment that you have to hold for 11 hours, it isn't worth it.
