    We bought some expensive tickets, flying from Los Angeles to Sydney, staying in Fiji for a few days. The leg from Los Angeles to Nadi was fine. But, when we went to the airport for our Nadi – Sydney flight, we found out that they grossly oversold the flight and gave away our seats. I have had bad experiences with other airlines, but this was above and beyond the worst experience I’ve ever had.

    This practive of overbooking flights was probably due to some idiot consulting firm suggesting that airlines could statistically make more money. However, the hidden costs are obviously not captured. There is so much stress caused to passangers, who get snubbed, and workers who get yelled at. Customers get angered enough, such that they will avoid the offending airline in the future. The tourrsim industry of the country that gets serviced by the airline suffers, as well as the workers in the industry. All because airlines think they can squeeze a bit more money in a slimy way.

    I will personally avoid Fiji airlines in the future, and will share my story with as many people as possible. Sadly, in the few days I spent in Fiji, I had a wonderful time until I came back to Nadi. Since we arrived in Nadi, our experience has been horrible. Just a few days ago, I had decided that I would definitely visit Fiji again. Now, I think I will choose another destination.
