Flying LA to Sydney i found the flight attendants to be very rude. I was travelling with a baby and simple, reasonable and practical requests were met with un- friendly response, and I was glared at or even ignored. Going to USA I had plenty of friendly and helpful passengers around me willing to help me with my baby if I needed to use the bathroom etc… Coming home I had no one but a lady who didn’t speak english so I needed to communicate with the flight attendant and ask that my baby was held so I could urgently use the restroom. The flight attendant was shocked and refused to do so which resulted eventually in me tearfully pleading with someone to hold her… I spoke to Delta who told me some pathetic excuse about not wanting to be sued. Seriously, unless this man was to intentionally harm my child how or why or would I sue someone that I have asked to momentarily hold her? They told me single mothers are on their own and expected to sort out their own issues on the plane. 20 hours of travelling in total, and the FA’s on the way home refused to allow me to clean my daughters bottles in their pathetic little kitchen area or even clean the bottles themselves if they wouldn’t let me in, so there I washing my daughters bottles in a filthy restroom. Oh yeah, the flight attendant that was so shocked at the request he briefly hold my daughter told me to just “sit her on the change table” while I did my business. Um the change table folds out over the toilet so don’t know how that works! And finally, I’m a tiny woman and as I struggled off the plane with my 10kg baby, heavy baby bag and my own bag (minus my stroller) I was less than impressed and actually disgusted that all these flight attendants could do was smile and say “thanks for flying Delta, see you next time!” – NO YOU WON’T
