    Flew CX174 Adelaide to Hong Kong. Delayed departure due to “technical difficulty” (75mins) which meant we missed our connection to LHR. Ground staff were nowhere to be found on arrival in HK so we wandered around the airport for 30 mins and eventually found the Cathay enquiries desk. After a lot of talk we were told they could send us to LHR via Tokyo!! Our protests at this were met with lovely smiles but absolutely no empathy, apology or alternative. Take it or leave it (and presumably sit in Hong Kong airport indefinitely). We took it and ended up flying BA Tokyo to London – they were great and really looked after us. However, a journey which should have taken 22 hours ended up taking 45 hours. We sat in airports for 15 of those hours and arrived at LHR feeling like death warmed up. As far as we are concerned, Cathay Pacific are ok until something goes wrong and then they will treat you with total indifference and smiling insincerity!
