Lufthansa lost my luggage on a flight within Europe. Inconvenient, but mistakes happen. The airport’s lost luggage officer was very helpful and filed a report immediately. A week later an airport officer advised that the bag had turned up and I was able to collect it from the airport. It had a tag on it showing that it had been sent to the wrong airport. So why I am writing this? Well, my issue is that Lufthansa made no attempt to contact me at the time and despite months of trying, no apology or compensation. Lufthansa knew immediately about the loss because the airport had sent them a report and there was a note on the Lufthansa website saying that the loss had been reported. But I was given zero information about whether my luggage was still in transit or lost for good. The website would not issue a tracking number because of the airport report. A few days later, assuming that the baggage would not be returned, I made a compensation claim, for which I simply received a proforma request for more information, without acknowledging that they already knew where the bag was. Months later, still with nothing from Lufthansa, my travel agent advised me to lodge a feedback form. Once again, nothing happened. When the agent followed up, Lufthansa’s offered only platitudes, implying that reporting of the luggage loss and the problems with their tracking and contact system were my fault. They still have never acknowledged that they knew of the loss, let alone acknowledge that I am out of pocket. Months later, they are even asking for proof of the airport’s lost luggage report, even though they were advised on the day of the flight and they eventually found the luggage and forwarded it. I have no complaints about the cabin staff or on-board meals. But their customer relations are appalling.

My Lufthansa flight was cancelled only two hours before departure due to airspace restrictions, and this has now happened twice in a row. I have been stuck in the city for two full days, and tomorrow’s rebooked flight will be the third attempt. which may also be delayed or cancelled. The situation itself is outside Lufthansa’s control, but the handling has been extremely disappointing. No clear guidance, no proper support, and a rigid attitude from staff who seemed unwilling to help with missed connections or prepaid hotel nights. I expected a basic level of care from a major airline, but instead felt abandoned. After this experience, I no longer feel confident choosing Lufthansa for long-haul travel.

Surprised at the awful overall experience with Lufthansa! What happened to the famous German punctuality? All flights were delayed without a proper explanation, bad customer service at the airport and had to wait an hour for our bags, won’t be flying with Lufthansa anymore!

It was a bad experience to fly with Lufthansa, and this will be the last trip with them, they are going down, Delayed departures, Uncomfortable seats, imagine sitting in an uncomfortable seat for 12 hours of flying. The service is very poor inside the plane, the food is bad, the touch screen hnfront of seat doesn't work and the flight attendants are incompetent. I advise the company to review the flight management and pay more attention to the passengers, otherwise it will go worse and no one will travel on its lines.

Lufthansa managed to delay my luggage for the entire duration of my trip. The luggage had specialized gears for a multi-day hiking trip which wasn’t possible to replace. It ruined my trip. Lufthansa refused to take any responsibility for this, they only agreed to pay a minor fraction of the real loss – shaving supplies, socks etc, but they didn’t pay even this – they keep insisting that I didn’t provide them with my banking information. I did it several times, I even took screenshots showing that they have my banking info, but they still lie in my face, saying they don’t have my banking information.

I booked my flight with Lufthansa, and they messed up my reservation. I was supposed to be in Economy Basic and they put me in Economy Light, so I had to pay for my checked bag. I tried to change my flight and they told me it was not possible, because the class they put me in didn’t allow any changes and it was not even refundable. Nobody even tried to help me, the customer service was terrible. I’m never going to flight with Lufthansa again.

Extremely Disappointing Customer Service Experience I had an unfortunate encounter with Lufthansa's customer service, which significantly marred my overall experience. I want to highlight that this review pertains specifically to their call center and counter customer service, not their in-flight service. Here's the sequence of events that transpired: 1. Failed Online Booking: When attempting to purchase two tickets on their website, the site froze upon clicking "purchase." No success page was displayed. 2. Immediate Contact: In response, I promptly called the airline to clarify the situation. They assured me that no flights had been booked. 3. Successful Booking on Expedia: To secure our travel, we successfully purchased the tickets through Expedia. 4. Unexpected Charge: Shockingly, a week later, an unexplained charge of $3500 appeared on our credit card from the initial unsuccessful Lufthansa booking. 5. Unhelpful Customer Service: Contacting Lufthansa, I was informed that it was too late to cancel the flight. Despite our numerous attempts to resolve the issue, the customer service representatives seemed uninterested in assisting, consistently deflecting responsibility. 6. Disputed Charge: We sought resolution through Amex, but our efforts were futile due to a lack of proof for the original call.

Avoid if you can. They delayed my box despite it being tagged priority for business class then They broke open my box saying they saw something suspicious and lied that they closed it and subsequently stole everything inside the box and what they did not steal, they destroyed . Really malicious theft. Police confirmed they were lying on the official document they sent and rather than compensate for the theft , they are trying to put it on me . I am sure they have a gang stealing people’s stuff from their boxes. If travelling with them, take everything of value in hand luggage

The worst luggage handling ever. Luggage was not transferred to my second flight and the luggage was delivered by a courier in the afternoon the following day. But when opening the suitcase it is apperantly so that the suitcase has been sitting outside in the rain the whole night because everything was soaking wet inside. On the return trip the business class lounge were under construction and the only other lounge available didn't provide access for business class passengers.

If you are not white you have to know that in German airports racial profiling is not considered racism. They can pick you among other passengers and interrogate you on your destination and where you traveled from and why you have been there. I was visiting my uncle in Italy and it was urgent and i had no choice but to book lufthansa . On my way back from Italy to Sweden i stopped by Germany. an officer picked all non whites going out of the aircraft and checked my Swedish passport that it was not fake. and asked me why i am going to Sweden, even thought the passport is Swedish!! i said i am going home!!! Then he asked me what i was doing in Italy. EU schengen laws does not apply in Germany. I have all the right to travel with my ID card and i dont even need a passport but in Germany they do not respect this and they are not that advanced to understand that racial profiling is racism. They think it is normal. So, if you are not white do not take lufthansa ever.

There was a delay because of a Tornado. This wasn´t Lufthansas fault. On board, dinner was served very quickly, so everyone had more time to rest and sleep. The meal was excellent and the drinks were really good. Lufthansa managed to make up half an hour. And they provided all the information you need for connecting flights. Very good experience at all.

We are very unhappy past Lufthansa customers, and after almost 13 months of unsuccessful message exchanges and communications with the various Customer Service departments including asking for help from the US DOT - Do yourself a favor don't even consider Lufthansa, it's a black hole! We flew with Lufthansa on June 3d, 2022 from O'Hare to the Tel Aviv with a few hours stop in Frankfurt, Germany. Three of our checked bags were lost for over 9 days forcing us to buy few items, the cost of which are officially covered by the standard Airlines policies for the lost luggage. We provided Lufthansa with all the necessary information several times, but the company's Service Departments and mangers are totally ignoring our plea. On Jan 19, 2023, we received the last communication from the Lufthansa Customer Service asking for our bank information without providing any identifying information and/or the payment arrangement details and again, when we responded asking for clarifications, nobody replied. Today July 2023 - We did not receive a penny!

I would like to share my extremely disappointing experience of my recent business class round-trip from Houston, TX to Haneda Airport in Tokyo with a stop in Austin, TX and a two-day layover in Frankfurt with Lufthansa. I am still paying the price, for my unforgettable mistake of booking flights LH716 from Frankfurt to Tokyo on March 22, 2023, and LH717 from Tokyo to Frankfurt on April 17, 2023. To start, one of our bags was delayed for more than five (5) days, and the airline's customer service at the Frankfurt Airport was unhelpful in resolving the issue. During our return trip from Tokyo, we were assigned a seat in the lower deck of the business class section, which was broken, making the 11-hour and 40-minute flight extremely uncomfortable. When we brought this to the attention of the head flight attendant, she was apologetic, but did not offer any solution other than the manual manipulation of the seat, every time we needed to change its position. . Although the flight attendants offered to compensate us for the damaged seat, they changed their minds three (3) times, stating that the compensation was only offered to European travelers, not Americans.

Roundtrip FRA-GRU Mar-Apr. Staff at FRA excellent, GRU poor. Flight attendents both flights good. Food was Eco only served on china and on the flight back had to ask extra if meet is still available for me as nr. 9 on the right side main deck. SkyChefs much better then GateGourmet. Service on the flight back started too late. It took the flight ateendent 30 min to get a paracetamol for my wife because only available in Eco. Entertaintment system don't work on the flight back. Not at all and not only my seat. Aircraft lavatories was clean. Seat is usable but no more up-to-date. LH waited too bring the new classes. The problem is the price for what you get. It is worse then 3 years ago but 30% more expensive (and will get more). And this not only because of high kerosine prices. We are looking for alternatives even if they are more expensive but we get what we paid for.

I have been flying with LH for many years and usually 3/4 times a year. I would only fly them. Loved them. Well, I am beyond disappointed with my last flight. I had booked months in advance my normal seat upstairs, when the time came, I saw on the ticket a different seat no. It was downstairs, ok, not happy but can cope. The nuts were ICE cold and drinks served with no finesse. We take off, cruising and not a soul to be seen. Looked for the slippers, which were a norm, nothing. The overnight bag was pathetic. Cheap as and just felt they couldn't give a hoot. Food - so-so, no salt/pepper and meal looked a bit slap-up and deal with it. Seat broken and aircon dripping on me. Again, hard to find crew, who seemed to be too busy running up and down. Landed in Frankfurt. No luggage. Went to customer care, woman says just wait its coming. Eventually spoke to another lady, very helpful. Would send luggage to hotel. Overall, their whole attitude was just whatever. Their complete turn around from amazing to not again is so sad.

Dear Fellow Business Travelers, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to provide you with an update to my May 6, 2023 post, regarding the issues I faced with Lufthansa during my travel in March/April to and from Japan. I am pleased to inform you that my claims for the delayed baggage and the damaged business class chair have been successfully resolved. I must also acknowledge the regrettable circumstances that led me to take extreme measures to bring these issues to the attention of Lufthansa's upper management. After several formal claims submissions, and a note to one of their senior Vice Presidents, the matter was successfully resolved, It is unfortunate that such actions were necessary to ensure a satisfactory resolution. As fellow business travelers, I believe it is crucial that we hold airlines accountable for providing the quality of service we expect and deserve.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Lufthansa. I was traveling with my mother to Hamburg to visit family. Our connecting flight from Frankfurt to Hamburg was cancelled 1.5 hours before we were supposed to take off. We even saw a plane at the gate when it was cancelled. The reasoning was because one of the runways was closed but that was all the information we received. We were given a train ticket to reach our destination but had to wait 3 days for luggage to be delivered. We did not purchase any clothes because each day we were told that we would receive it the next day. Customer service was also very disappointing. It entirely depends on who you speak to. I would say 80% of the staff I spoke to throughout all of our issues were completely unhelpful. I will say that they ones that were able to help were very friendly and useful. I will not be flying with Lufthansa again and I would not recommend anyone else do so either.

I was denied check in saying my infant's information is not populating in their system. I contacted the Lufthansa customer care and they confirmed that the information is in their system. The attitude of the check in crew was so rude that they were not even ready to hear what we say or the customer service person says. They made us stand and wait on long queue for hours until the gate is closed. This is a clear case of miscommunication and arrogance among the Lufthansa team. If someone from the management sees this, please take urgent action against such irresponsible and idiotic employees whose pathetic service will hardly impact the reputation of the whole brand. We had the worst experience one could ever have especially while travelling with infants.

Lost my luggage, including medication and sleep device. Explained I was a disabled vet. Over a week to locate it. Promised and docs with guarantee that there was reimbursement for costs incurred. Kept costs for clothes and essentials at around $400.00. Submitted the documents for reimbursement. Twice was contacted and directed to send the docs again. After third time received letter stating they would not honor the contract and would not be reimbursing.

DO NOT choose to fly lufthansa. I was Traveling to Egypt from Miami with one layover in Frankfurt. Not only was my flight from Miami to Frankfurt delayed by one hour but once I was at the terminal I ended up waiting another hour making it two hours delayed. Once in Frankfurt my flight was once again delayed half an hour. In the end we made it to Egypt. On the way back our flight from Cairo to Frankfurt was delayed by a WHOLE TWELVE HOURS which caused us to have to miss our connection to Miami. after spending over an hour on the phone we are finally able to figure out how we are getting back to Miami the day after. This caused multiple of us to miss work and or school and we had to stay in a hotel in Frankfurt. Once in Frankfurt the next day for the last flight going from Frankfurt to Miami the gate changes (literally 30 gates away from the original). Once getting to the new gate and waiting there for 30 minutes an announcement saying that the boarding process would not begin for another half hour after it was originally scheduled.

Avoide this company, worst airlines with worst customer service. They cancelled my flights from France to NZ the day before leaving. I called and emailed them many times but never had any answer. My only option was to book a new flight last minute. 6 months later I'm still fighting with Lufthensa to reimburse me and compensate for the extra spending.

In 1 month I called over 13times, send an email twice (on Lufthansa’s request), asked no reply I asked for updates on Social Media and requested three times a call back. And none of this has helped me one bit, other than a lost flight ticket of 600euro + an expensive phone bill because I had to made some of the phone calls from abroad. And the request wasn't so hard you would say: "Can you please change my flight to November 7th to 29th? Yes, sure +€155 extra cost is okay". But during verification the phone connection was lost. I called back immediately, but apparently there was only one employee who had the authorization and they made it impossible to get in touch with him. Bizar fact, I send an email on December 2nd an dreceived a reply more than one month later on January 7th, the day my flight was scheduled and a few hours before departure.

No feeling involved here only facts. On my flight from HK to Frankfurt I got food poisoned (beef goulash dinner) with following 5 days unable to work (business trip). On my way back to Hong Kong, I was blocked at the gate for not being able to show HK authorities the green QR code requested to enter the country. It is normal and I have to respect the rule. However, the staff absolutely deny any help or guidance and a lady from the ground staff looked to enjoy the fact I was missing my flight. With the correct information, I could have flown but the 3 staff just look at my failure to go through (customer service you said?). Last but not least, after having to reschedule and pay a new ticket full price, my luggage was lost and I received it 1 day later with broken objects inside delivered at... 12 am. I wish nobody to go through the same experience. Sorry for all the other Lufthansa staff that try their best every day but not acceptable from my point of view.

I've been ripped off by Lufthansa a few times within past couple of years. I wrote them several letters but was ignored every each single time. Trust me, don't fall for any of their BS offers like lowest price guarantee, cause everything they do is hoax. They took advantage of covid pandemic and cheat the other airlines to stay in business. STAY AWAY from this fraudulent airline.

Very poor customer service. Flied with Lufthansa and when arrived in my destination went to pick up my suitcase. I can't believe how they handled my EX-LARGE suitcase which was broken badly. since bigging of October I am waiting to get respond from Lufthansa airline and they just offering me a small/large suitcase from the partner website which is very expensive and offering me a £129 voucher to use there. My suitcase was much more than they offer. Very poor customer service.

Unprofessional They caused 13h+!!!! hours delay to my parent's arrival (who are in their 60s, travelled for the 1st time and donn't speak english). It was very stressfull and frustrating. I did not sleep that night trying to help them through out all these issues, talking to agents and translating. They were great during the trip to USA but they messed it in the domestic. My parent has wheelchair assistance and lufthansa did not take care of it well to make sure they make it in the next flight. My parents were lefts somewhere in the airport (not in the gate) for long time and they missed their next flight. So disapponinted with them. I don't want anyboday to experience this, so If you 're flying your parents with united I recommend NOT to do that. Flight: JSRWSF

An absolute mess from beginning to end. Round trip from Lyon to Nuremberg through Frankfurt, of the 4 flights not one was on time and my baggage was lost both ways. I returned on Friday evening, it is now Sunday and my baggage still hasn't been delivered, and any information concerning the delivery I have I had to go fish for myself calling any number I could find. Arriving to Frankfurt on the first trip we learned that there was no personnel to disembark us so we were stuck on the plane for half an hour and almost missed our connecting flight. On the return the first flight was delayed (of course) so we had to sprint in Frankfurt airport to make the connecting flight. Only one person in Nuremberg to manage check-ins, not enough personnel to manage on board catering. I heard Lufthansa has already cancelled over a thousand flights this summer but clearly they are still unable to manage the remaining ones.

Lacking Customer Care Service I have traveled to USA for summer in July and my baggage was lost for 4 days. I was assured by customer care representatives that I would be reimbursed for my articles of clothing and toiletries that I had to purchase while waiting for my lost luggage. It has been over 7 months now since the incident and still no reimbursement while the customer care ignores my e-mails and does not provide any information. Overall I am very unhappy with how Lufthansa customer care is miss handling this case.

In overall, good and safe airline. The airline has a good airplanes for long-haul flights and short flights. The airplanes usually quite clean inside. The quality of food is good too. However, the only problem - the quantity of food. For 2 hours flight from BEL to MUC there was only water. The most ridiculous, for long-haul almost 9 hours flight from MUC (Germany) to ORD (US) they provided only one lunch and no dinner, and at the end one small snack and water. The meal size was also very small. This is not acceptable for these kind of long flights. I was hungry most of the flight time. Moreover, I'm a United Premier member and specifically used Lufthansa as a Star Alliance partner, expecting some benefits of it, but during the flight Lufthansa representatives told me that they do not honor any United Premier level members, no benefits at all. I will never use Lufthansa for long-haul flights anymore.

Lufthansa delivered my luggage 11 days late. After that time the luggage was damaged and some items were lost. They do not answer my emails about this and they are not responsible at the information desk

Luftansa staff took our money for illegal bookings. We paid for the tickets and when we arrived at the airport we found that their tickets could not be used because they covered two stops in Europe. So we had to book more tickets and they also proved to be illegal and we were left stranded with $38000 owing. Can you help please?

Lufthansa is great, yeah!. I love how comfortable the seats are- if I could give comfort a 6/5, I would. The staff are also really nice. I recommend you to fly Lufthansa.

We have used Lufthansa in the past. We didn't think of the experience much until this year when COVID-19 prevented us from flying. The problems begin with one trying to reach the Lufthansa's non-existent Customer Service. The phone is either busy, does not connect you at all, or you wait for literally hours! Then they connect you to someone that barely speaks the language only to tell you - "No refunds" and then, when you ask for reschedule of your flights - LUFTHANSA extorts money from the customer to rebook the same flight they didn't provide to you in the first place.

I paid $4,000 for my ticket in business class.The passenger sitting next to me smelled like he had not showered in weeks! Prior to takeoff, I spoke with a flight attendant.Directly from the Lufthansa website, Article 7: Limitations and Refusal of Carriage, 7.1.2. your carriage may adversely affect the safety and security, health or the comfort of other passengers to a significant degree. The flight attendant said it puts him in an uncomfortable position and refused to say anything to the passenger. The entire area at my seat had not been cleaned from the previous flight. The disgusting passenger decided to take off his shoes during the flight also. He also brought his own food, which smelled like vomit. They ran out of 2 of the 3 choices for food, they ran out of the appetizer, and I only got 2 beverages the entire flight. I was sick to my stomach from smelling the passenger next to me. I contacted Lufthansa via email about the unacceptable service. They said there was nothing they would do. They delayed getting back to me and offered zero compensation on my return flight.

The staffs that check in and airplane hostess are very disrespectful . I see how they talk to other race when they did something wrong. However, they talk with no work of please. When use they says it with hash tone. I enter Turkish airline and I was skeptical. Nevertheless, they were more friendly and accomodating. There words was more like can I help with you things because they are not supposed to be here. Luthansa staff are like you need to get your stuff now with high tone and then they keep watching for you to make mistake and the send one of the staff to strictly check your stuff.

Missed a connecting flight in India due to customs taking abnormally long. All my flights were then cancelled without a refund or method of redress, without warning. This included my return home flights a week later, leaving me without a way home and without the funds to get a new way home. Never, ever chancing it with Lufthansa again

Lufthansa customer service has 1. dropped my calls 2. Not interested to help 3. RUDE Had notified customer service that I would not be able to make it to my OUTBOUND flight. I REBOOKED for the following day with Swiss Air and Lufthansa CANCELLED MY RETURN INBOUND FLIGHT. I REPEATEDLY CALLED AND SPOKEN TO CUSTOMER SERVICE TO NOTIFY THAT I WOULD NOT MAKE THE OUTBOUND FLIGHT WHILE ALSO REBOOKING IT. YET WITHOUT ADVISING ME THEY CANCELLED MY RETURN INBOUND FLIGHT. No one made note of my calls. And when trying to figure out why my return flight was cancelled they kept telling about their no show policy. Which does not apply to me because i had consistently told them that I had to cancel. My money has been wasted and my whole trip ruined. As a frequent flyer I WILL NEVER FLY ON LUFTHANSA. I am devastated and furious (to say it lightly). Please be aware and absolutely DO NOT fly on this airline unless you want your money wasted and to be treated without respect.

Flew Munich to Hong Kong, night flight. Was unable to look at the safety brochure as the two pages stuck closed with chewing gum. Prior to takeoff we were issued Ear Buds, it appears that the airline head sets have gone, on Lufthansa anyway. I spent most of the first movie trying to keep them in my ears so I could hear the movie. After the meal service a cabin attendant asked my wife to close the window shade, even though se was looking out the window. When asked why it had to be closed the attendant just insisted that it was closed. I asked another attendant why and we got the appropriate explanation. The sun rising will soon light the cabin and the passengers preferred it dark to allow sleep.

I would like to say that my experience today from Delhi to Frankfurt to Toronto by Lufthansa was amazing. I was provided very good veg/hindu meal in both the flights, attendants were very polite and responsive. I was happy to see a bottle of water on the seat when onboarded at Delhi which helped me avoid waiting for water. I highly recommend this flight to others.
