What makes up the cost of an airline ticket?

On a typical $300 ticket flying on a standard 180-seat aircraft on a four-hour flight in the USA the break down looks something like this, according to a USA Today survey:   Staff Costs $60 Taxes $42 Fuel $87 Maintenance $33 Other fees and charges $75 Profit $3
