Virgin Australia has released a video of its assessment process for volcanic ash which underscores the great attention to detail the airline takes to ensure safety. Many sections of the the airline are involved in making the decision which affects thousands of travelers. Australian airlines, which have never had an accident involving deaths in the pure jet era take a very conservative view of ash clouds because of the enormous damage they can do to an aircraft.
