Vietnam Airlines is AirlineRatings.com's inaugural winner of our Best Value Premium Economy Award for 2024.

Why has AirlineRatings this year announced a Best Premium Economy AND Best Value Premium Economy Airline Excellence 2024 award? The answer comes down to value and the wide range of offerings in Premium Economy.

If you want to know why we have (and will continue to have) a Best Premium Economy and Best Value Premium Economy award take a look here.

Vietnam Airlines: Our Inaugural Winner

In what was a tight race, Vietnam Airlines won this award as they consistently offer a high quality, high-value Premium Economy product on their medium and long haul aircraft without a hefty price tag. What this means for travellers is that they have the option for that extra comfort and space as well as priority treatment without the price tag of the more prestigious premium economy offerings on airlines like Air New Zealand and Emirates. The airline is also has a modern fleet with an average age of just 8.9 years.

Vietnam Airlines Premium Economy passengers experience:

  •  Priority check-in and baggage drop-off at the business check-in counter;  Priority boarding and disembarkation and Priority baggage
  • Larger seats with leg/footrests in a 2-3-2 seating configuration
  • A seat pitch of 107cm on the 787 and 96cm on the A350
  • Backrest recline of 18cm on the 787 and 15cm on the A350
  • Noise-cancelling headphones.
  • 10.6'' personal entertainment screens.
  • Spacious baggage compartment.
  • USB charging port and 110V, 50Hz power source.
  • Amenity kit containing eye masks, noise-reducing earplugs, socks, foam slippers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and mouthwash
  • Cosmetics kit containing moisturizers, lip balm and fragrance
  • Blanket and pillow

The meals served are the same as those in economy and drinks and glassware may or may not be used depending on the route.

AirlineRatings CEO Geoffrey Thomas states;

 ‘Whilst we have our own set of criteria when it comes to awarding airlines, we also listen to our readers, most of whom are frequent flyers around the world. When asking about Vietnam Airlines the response was consistently the same,  ‘ Vietnam Airlines offers great value and I enjoyed my flight.’ Along with our criteria covering safety, fleet, comfort, financial position and sustainability, the resounding customer sentiment made Vietnam Airlines the ultimate winner for this award."
