Qatar Airways has launched the world's longest scheduled commercial service with its inaugural flight from Doha to Auckland
Flight QR920 operated by a Boeing 777-200LR, takes on average 16 hours and 20 minutes to complete the 14,535 kilometres (9,032 mile) journey between Qatar and New Zealand. The flight passes over five countries and crosses ten time zones. Flights on the return journey can be over an hour longer due to head winds.
In March last year, Emirates launched what was then the world's longest non-stop scheduled commercial flight, with a service from Dubai to Auckland, spanning 14,200 kilometres (8,824 miles). Qatar's Doha- Auckland flight eclipses this by one hour and 342 kms.

The long-range Boeing 777 which has 217 economy seats and 42 business class seats will fly with four pilots and 15 cabin crew who will serve 1100 cups of tea and coffee, 2000 cold drinks and 1036 meals during the Doha-Auckland leg.
