An Emirates Airbus A380-800, performing flight EK-421 from Perth, Australia to Dubai (United Arab Emirates), was enroute at 38,000 feet over the Arabian Sea when the aircraft encountered turbulence causing injuries to a number of cabin crew and passengers.
According to The Aviation Herald the airline reported the aircraft briefly encountered unexpected turbulence mid flight resulting in a small number of crew members and passengers sustaining injuries. The crew and passengers, with assistance from medical support via satellite link, provided medical assistance to the injured.
Passengers reported meal service was just in progress and was stopped when the turbulence hit. A number of people were thrown against the ceiling and back onto the floor twice leaving cracks in the cabin ceiling.
The Emirates flight continued to Dubai and landed safely where medical services awaited the flight on landing.
In total, 14 people were assessed by medical services.
