We were travelling as a family of 4 on MH139 from Kuala Lumpur to Adelaide , Australia on 20th August 2015 but had to forfeit the ticket for my daughter who had to return earlier . We tried to get an alternative flight earlier as she had to return for an unexpected exam paper when we found out on 15th July. There were no alternative flights available earlier for multiple dates when we enquired on 16th July 2015 at the KL Sentral office. We did manage to get an alternative flight via Singapore Airlines. We were aware that it was a non refundable ticket which should enable us to keep the seat. One of the family members was sick with gastro prior to the flight and we were looking forward to the extra space on the flight. However, the ticket was reallocated to another passenger or with the words of the travel agent " reallocation of the seat is at the discretion of the airline". This is below the line business practice if the ticket has been paid With this decision by Malaysian Airlines to reallocate the seat, we would not be using this Airline again.Needless to say the moral values of the airline is questionable if they reallocate the ticket and not offer a refund! EDITORS COMMENT: We agree - it's a greedy tactic but MOST airlines have the same policy we're sorry to say.
