VA0243 MEL-ADL B738 Business Class - used the new "bid for upgrade" and scored 2 x Business Class seats for an extra $100. Slight delayed leaving as a pax decided she couldnt take the flight for medical reason and wanted to deplane as we were about to push back, staff kept pax informed of delay and once the pax checked bag was located off we went. The newer outfitted B738 is bright and clean looking, the purple cabin lights do remind me of those "anti drug lights" in service station toilets tho. Cabin manager introduced himself to all the business class pax, and took orders for meals, asked if anyone needed help with the wifi inflight entertainment system. Food was nice, fresh tasting and well presented. IFE was excellent, streamed to my iPhone. Overall a pleasant experience from MEL-ADL. I do tend to find the VA business class experience a little better run than that of QF.
