I have taken China Eastern a lot of time as this is one of the main airlines in Shanghai. Overall it usually does the job of transporting you, but this is not the happiest travel experience. From ok to real bad: - planes are recent, equipments are working - price is ok when there is some competition on the route - crew is polite enough, even if there is a long way to be at the average levels of companies outside China - seats are normal. Online entertainment: sound too low to hear the film through the 2 pairs of headphones I asked. On shorter flights (up to 5 hours), just expect a dumb Chinese TV show on a small common screen, in Chinese only. - awfull policy that forbids you to use your smartphone whole flight even in flight mode - worth thing: customer service. After booking from Internet, I had to pay the full cancelation fee because half my name had disappeared somewhere in the process, despite having the proper passport number and tryed to discuss 1 hour with customer service. And no compensation for my 2 10-hours delayed flights.
