Avoid flying via WAW / Poland airport or LOT airlines at all costs if you wish to keep your belongings safe in the checked-in baggage! Be aware that according to the airline's response of their rules, you should basically not put anything in your checked-in luggage. The airport security staff can steal anything as they wish without any consequences. Our checked-in bags were checked by security while transferring there from an inter-continental flight, messed up, all plastic and paper bags ripped open and "valuables" stolen from inside.
