Flying with Air China was definitely a mixed bag. The 'non-stop' flight MELPEK actually involved a stop-over in Shanghai where everyone had to get out and go through customs even as transit passengers. After the plane was cleaned we got back on & went to Beijing. Nobody helped up in the terminal with our transfers to FRA/MUC except a guy wanting western money. The service onboard was actually surprisingly good, but sadly this did not make up for the poor service on the ground. I rebooked my flight FRASHA so I didn't have to go through immigration at PEK. The plane from PEK couldn't land at SHA due to a storm. The only announcement in English was a recorded message saying the flight was delayed. After 5 hours of waiting where we were given a packet of Arrowroot biscuits as compensation we were bundled off into buses & taken to a hotel who proceeded to try and charge us for our room and breakfast. The next morning we only got information about the buses coming to pick us up from a nice Chinese man who called up the Air China call centre. Once back at the airport we had to queue at check-in again. Re-booking onto the new flight took nearly 90 minutes. People were losing it.
