Business Class

Qantas flight QF24 from Bangkok to Sydney on the 6th of September 2018 from Qantas. The plane for this plane was an A330 - 200, with 2-2-2 configuration in business class , my seat 3E. This was the most uncomfortable seat that I have ever had for any airline, including; American, United, Singapore, Jet Airways, Silk Air, Tiger, Indigo, BA, Lufthansa, Cathay, Dragonair, China Southern Ryan Air, Easyjet and Alitalia.  The problem is that the seats are very old, and the polyurethane foam has collapsed and as a result when seated upright you can feel the hard support structure under the foam. It is apparent that Qantas does not include the condition and quality of the seat in its regular maintenance program. Sitting on a blanket alleviates the problem, but it is ridiculous to have to do this in business class. It is also very unusual not to have a business class seat on long haul travel that does not recline to a flat position. Its all about getting to sleep on night flights.  The problem with this (these) planes is well known amongst Qantas staff. On previous flights with this plane flight staff have said that the plane was supposed to have been retired but was brought back into service to deal with a short term issue, and that it would not be used again. I am not the only person to complain about the comfort of these seats , I have heard 3 or 4 people complain about seat comfort on a single flight.  On this particular flight the controls for the entertainment system for my seat didn't work properly and didn't work at all for the lady in 3A. At one point there were 4 customers in business class all talking about problems with their seats. One of them opined that Qantas standards had been on the slide for a long time, and poor standards had become normal for Qantas.
