I have taken several Scoot flights over the last couple of years. Overall, each flight rated above average. However, I had to cancel my recent flight on compassionate ground and this is when the nightmare started. An airline must also be rated on the way it manages issues outside SOP and when genuine clients are in need. The company hides behind its call centre and does not have a channel to alleviate complaints. It has been almost 3 weeks since my initial contact, with my numerous follow up, about the cancellation. To date, the issue has not been resolved. In case you need to go through my experience, you need to take a full swig of the patience potion and hope that you don't suffer from hypertension. Upon receiving the request, Scoot advises that it would again be submitted for further evaluation and subjected to approval. To add fuel to fire, they asked for further patience as their process could take up to additional 8 weeks due to their large volume of requests. Note the irony. Before booking a flight on Scoot, read the fine print - refund is in the form of a transferable travel voucher valid for 6 months, irrespective of your circumstance. EDITORS COMMENT: As frustrating and unfair as this seems, this would be the case for 90 per cent of carriers if you were traveling on the cheapest -non flexible- fare. These fares are great - it means we can all travel more but don't expect a refund or any compensation of you need to change your plans no matter what the circumstances.
