Cathay Pacific review by Luis 2017-01-31

This was the first time I travelled with Cathay Pacific......and the last time!! My flight - return ticket from Johannesburg to Bangkok - arrived in Hong Kong @ 07:00 and the connecting flight to Bangkok was 17:00 I called them 1 month earlier to try move me onto an earlier flight from Hong Kong to BKK - 45 mins later the operator told me they would not or could not move me earlier - knowing very well that they have numerous flight during the day between Hong Kong to BKK! So I decided to book my own earlier flight from Hong Kong to BKK with Air Asia - and managed to get to my wife before 7pm that day. On my return - when I tried to check-in for the return, it said I could not check in!! I then called the call center - after 30 mins wait, I was told me that my entire ticket has been cancelled because I never took the flight from Hong Kong to BKK!! I was forced to buy one way return ticket!! R 11000 - This is the best daylight robbery I have ever seen!!!! This is completely unbelievable!!! Please fly someone else!! even if it costs you double! EDITORS COMMENT: This woudl be the same rules with ALL airlines. If you miss a leg, your whole ticket is forfeited. It sounds crazy but it is the rule for all airlines.
