Flew LHR-MBA business, back home economy, both long-haul sectors on the 777. ET is an African institution: it's kept flying through coups, hijackings, epidemics & famines, to that extent I admire it. Fares are low & its call centres polite & helpful. Food in business was passable but my seat controls were faulty & there was limited IFE. Cabin crew had poor English skills but were friendly. Overhead bins were left open in flight. No attempt was made to stop passengers opening bins on final into Addis. Dedicated business/Star Gold security in Addis is a mess; one staffer giggled with a girlfriend, another merely glanced at the screen, neither spoke English. The 737 from MBA to ADD in Y was fine but the final leg back to London was a nightmare. The plane took off with an inoperative restroom in front of me. Despite queues, the crew seemed unable to handle the situation, my IFE system and reading light were miswired so they controlled another passenger's light and a passenger who clearly couldn't understand how to open the door or comprehend the safety card or crewmember instructions was allowed to sit in an exit row. My concerns about safety would discourage me from choosing ET again.
