Cancellations and lengthy delays

If Emirates cancel a flight, fail to operate a flight reasonably according to the schedule, fail to stop at your destination or Stopover destination, or cause you to miss a connecting flight on which you hold a confirmed reservation, the airline shall, at your option,

  • Carry you at the earliest opportunity on another of our scheduled services on which space is available without additional charges
  • Within a reasonable period of time re-route you to the destination shown on your ticket by our own services or those of another Carrier, or by other mutually agreed means and class of transportation without additional charge. If the fare, and charges for the revised routing are lower than what you have paid, we shall refund the difference
  • or make a refund onthe portion of the ticket that will no longer be used

If cancellations or delays are due to inclement weather or to air traffic control delays, the airline is under no obligation to provoide the above or telephone calls, accommodation, refreshments or transportation.

Where your flight is due to be operated by us from an airport within the EU and has been cancelled or delayed for at least four (4) hours or you have been downgraded on an involuntary basis you may be entitled to certain rights and we will inform you about those rights when they arise.

Baggage
If your baggage does not come off the conveyor belt or is damaged when you receive it, please file a report with the Baggage Services Counter or Etihad office at the airport.
For many international journeys (including domestic portions of international journeys), the Warsaw Convention may apply with liability limits of 17 Special Drawing Rights per kilo for checked baggage and 332 Special Drawing Rights per passenger for unchecked baggage. In cases where the Montreal Convention applies to your journey, the applicable liability limit is 1,131 Special Drawing Rights per passenger for checked and unchecked baggage. Denied Boarding
Volunteers will first be asked to surrender their ticket for benefits however if no volunteers are found, passengers will be chosen based on ticket type, destination etc.

  • The airline will carry you at the earliest opportunity on another of our scheduled services on which space is available without additional charges
  • Within a reasonable period of time re-route you to the destination shown on your ticket by our own services or those of another Carrier, or by other mutually agreed means and class of transportation without additional charge. If the fare, and charges for the revised routing are lower than what you have paid, we shall refund the difference
  • or make a refund of the part/s of the ticket that can no longer be used.
  • The airline will offer meals and refreshments, telephone calls, and accomodation where needed as well as transport between the airport and accomodation.
