We decide to travel to Fiji for a holiday. On our way to back to Sydney we were to fly via Nadi from Suva. We had spend most our holiday in Suva while checking-in for our flight to Sydney which was via Nadi we were told by Fiji Airways that we will have to recheck ourselves again at Nadi for the Sydney flight. We were very disappointed to come to know about this? We were told well in advance prior to making our booking and while paying for the trip that we will not have to recheck ourselves at Nadi and will receive our bags in Sydney. The customer service staff said that we had been misinformed which was very disappointing and after my husband and i explained to them that this was our first trip to Fiji and we had big bags and we would appreciated it if they can check to see if it was a mistake of some sort. Fiji Airways customer Service said they couldn't do anything and were rude in their approach towards us. We were really disappointed and did not want any drama so we asked them if they can put us on a later connecting flight and were disappointed to know that there was no another flight late in the evening so sad and very disappointing our connecting flight was 7 hours earlier

A minute after making a booking called Fiji airways to change the name swapped over between first name and surname and was slapped with charges. Customer service was rude and upon confrontation got a hang up tone.pathetic... Waiting on a senior manager to review my request. Will post the results..

Flew from Nadi to Brisbane on the old 767. Flight was late, The service was nonexisitent and the staff were just rude and dissinterested. I was really dissapointed because I'd had a great experience travelling to Fiji years ago but it seems something has gone array. I will never travel with them again.

Boeing 737-800 from Melbourne to Nadi departing at 00.30. We were told at time flight was due to depart that it was running late. Forty five minutes later we were told the flight was cancelled due to a sick flight attendant and therefore not having the minimum staff required for the flight. Waited a further 45 minutes before being able to leave the departure gate. No effort made by Fiji Airways to get us onto another flight. We had to arrange it ourselves and next available flight was 2 days later costing us 2 days of our holiday. On board service and entertainment was terrible at every level. Seats were ok.

Worst experience ever!! I was meant to fly out from Sydney at 6:30 am this morning (06/05/17) on flight no. FJ 914 to Nadi, we boarded the plane as per normal time, but the plane had mechanical issues and for almost 2 hours the passengers were left sitting in the plane and the flight attendants didn't even check on the passenger's. People with young children and other passenger's had to go and individually ask for water. Once the passengers finally departed the plane we were given $15 food vouchers to use in airport and no other instructions were given to us by Fiji Airways staff. Passengers were finally summoned to gate 26 around 11am and we were told that the engineers are waiting on parts to arrive from Brisbane and the flight will be rescheduled for 8:30 pm tonight once the plane has been repaired. We have been given the following options: 1. Stay at the airport, we will be given another food voucher and wait for the flight tonight. 2. Check-out of the airport and then check back in this afternoon for the flight tonight 3. Get our tickets refunded and the passengers can book new flights. Ground staff have no idea what is going on and asked us to call customer service

Most abysmal airline i have ever been on , went Syd Nadi on a 737.800 on 11/ june , flight delayed twice , hearded passengers in to airport gate when the plane had not even got down , not enough seats for people and some had been there since 3am , unacceptable service , food on the flight was terrible, service the same , drink service well forget that . Return flight home , canned altogether , asked if we would fly out a day early of our holiday ...no thanks ...comunication from them to us not good enough , had to leave our hotel to go to one they put us up at big drop in standard there , flight home at least left on time but food just as bad , there was more problems but needless to say the group of 11 we traveled with some being first time overseas travelers will never set foot on this airline again , no matter how cheap it may be

Had flights Hong Kong - Nadi - Honiara (once-a-week connection) - Nadi - Los Angeles. First leg was on time, with mediocre service. Second leg was delayed by 6,5 h, largely as a result of airport computer problems. Third leg never materialized and we were simply left in Guadalcanal, without assistance. Had to buy tickets to Honiara - Brisbane - Nadi, and rent a room in Brisbane, to be able to catch the LAX flight. Rerouting was possible, but Fiji Airways did not arrange it. Fourth leg was a bit late, with mediocre service. One may tolerate the less than professional staff, the endemic computer problems and the rundown Nadi airport. Nevertheless, the Fiji Airways policy of cancelling flights and leaving its customers stranded should be taken in account when making choices between airlines.

Both outward and inward flight on time. No personal entertainment. Only a screen every 3. Rows, travelling with kids so nothing to entertain them. 2 families travelling together our bookings all linked yet we were split up which made it difficult to help with the 2 children in our group. Staff busy yet on return flight had one child screaming in a high pitched scream, for the whole flight, staff didn't do anything and the child in question kept everyone awake and on edge. Blankets and pillows smelt and unusable. 2nd time I have used this airline, its good only a relatively short flight.

Been flying to Fiji since 1993. All I can say is service and food have continually declined. The newer A330 airbus service from LAX has very poor pitch in Economy. The food service is inadequate and is usually a stale sandwich roll. Make sure you have a good meal at LAX before boarding. After the meal the Fijians will go back and sleep. They won't answer call lights and you have to walk back and shake them awake. Last year Fiji Airways scored dead last among 50 airlines coming in at fifty. Most of the improvements are for business class which cost over 7K now.. or three times more then economy. I've been requesting bulk head seats just so I don't get blood clots in my legs. Can you believe they charge 100 USD just for that? Incredible. Avoid this government run airlines at all costs. Unfortunately I have business there and have to fly this airline. The planes may be new but if your in back, your going to be miserable all the way.. Its about 11 hour flight. Fiji Airways opted out for the cheapest economy seating with the smallest pitch that airbus offers.

Very disappointing service .despite confirmed tickets we got told tht 15 passengers cannot fly as the flight is now fully loaded n our seats taken. Thn got told n given a voucher entitling us fjd350 pp as compensation to go into our bank acc in 2 weeks time plus being put on airnz after 4 hrs. Im still waiting for the compensation payment. Plus the rudeness with which we got treated on showing our urgency to go on same day was beyond disrespect to visitors in their country.

I travelled in August 2016, excellent service. I went to Fiji Islands again from Sydney in Dec 2016, upon going from Sydney, they didn't allow me to carry my carry on saying it's too big on Fiji Airways. The staff at check-in counters in Sydney are utmost unfriendly. While coming back from Fiji Islands with same Fiji Airways, I was allowed to carry my SAME carry on. They even checked and weighed my bag in Nadi. Nadi staff were friendly and approachable. Not to be insulting or anything but I think staff at Sydney appeared to be very probably racist and discourteous.

We travelled to fiji this year, and last year in Novenber. I can honestly say we will never travel with them again.The food for a diabetic, is not diabetic. i ordered a diabetic meal, had not eaten since the night before, lucky i didnt go into a coma.You do not give a diabetic mango yoghurt with 70% sugar content., or fresh pineapple, which also has a high sugar content. the roll was inedible. I am sure you would not serve non-halal food to a muslim, or meat to a hindu or vegetarian.When i said that i couldnt eat it, the air hostess just said ok. Employ a dietician.. not for me. but to protect yourselves. My remote control would not come out of the console, so therefore no entertain. To add insult to injury they lost our luggage, we didnt receive it till the next night. we nearly missed our connecting flight. So as you can imagine we are not happy. we have been travelling to fiji for thirty year, sometimes twice a year. from now on its virgin or air new zealand Danuta Henderson.Australia

I will never fly Fiji airlines and have started telling every person I know planning travels to not fly Fiji Airlines. We flew on Nov 1, 2014 from LAX to Nadi. I've never been treated so poorly before by a service provider. We had a guy throwing up next to us and of course in light of all the Ebola news, we were freaking out. The guy seemed to be choking in his puke, and we immediately pushed the button for service. The flight attendant yelled at us, yes us, for disturbing her and her crew! We were so stunned...no words to describe how we felt at that moment. We also have special diet needs and I had called ahead to get gluten free and dairy free meals for both me and my husband. The attendants had no record of me requesting and went on to require me to prove that i had called. Luckly, I had printed out all ticketing information which clearly stated the special meal requests. They finally ended up 'finding' us our meals after I proved that i called and requested special meals. The food issues continued when we were returning from Nadi to LAX on Nov 18, 2014. This time, they had record of me requesting gluten free and dairy free food, but that meant we only got served fruit for our 11 hour flight. only fruit. for an 11 hour flight. Yep, you read it correctly. The planes were filthy and after wiping down our trays, which I always do, my rag was disgustingly dirty.

I had a terrible experience with Fiji airways. I am currently travelling with a surfboard and I am careful to check terms and conditions before booking. I was flying from Jakarta to Fiji and the first flight to Singapore was with a partner airline. I was charged the normal rate as advertised on Fiji Airlines website for my surfboard and extra weight happy in the knowledge that my bags were checked through to Fiji. On arrival at the transfer desk in Singapore I was told I had to pay again! Why would this be? There was barely time to transfer never mind arrange payment again. The flight manager could not care less. He was not interested in what was right or wrong just taking more money. Or they would not load my bags. Take the money basically and leave it to the customer to do something about it. On arrival in Fiji I made a complaint and asked for evidence in the terms and conditions to show why I was charged twice. I considered that I had been wrongly sold my ticket. No evidence was provided just an apology that I did not think I had good service! As far as I can see the airline have illegally taken money from me and I can't do anything about it.

I would never take Fiji Airways again after the experience I had today. I was checked in the night before and had no carry on luggage. I arrived to the airport 1 hour before the flight and the customer service rep refused to let me on the flight since I wasn’t there early enough. This ended up costing us $500 and making us arrive late to our vacation.

I was travelling from Christchurch to Fiji. Our flight was delayed from 1200hrs to 2015hrs. We stayed in the Auckland Intl Airport from 0900hr and arrived in Nadi at 2315hrs and given a $20 voucher as compensation. I was carrying over size luggage and had tried to pay for this online which I couldn't. I was shocked at being charged $243.00NZD for this. We had to delay our trip to Rakiraki as it was to late at night and had to spend more money on a hotel across from the airport. This was upsetting and very costly to the start of our trip.

Flying from Nadi to Christchurch. At the check-in counter the company asked for the "ticket out of New Zealand", witch I promptly show. It was a ticket from Auckland to Santiago (Chile). The agency from I've bought the ticket didn't sent the "booking reference" of the flight, but I had the booking flight proof and the receipt of payment. Fiji Airways refuse to check me in because I didn't have the "booking reference" (for a flight 3 weeks later out of NZ). Worst, they didn't even offer to help or sugest any solution, just saying I had 20min until they close the check-in, refusing to call NZ immigration services to expose the problem. It was night time in Europe, and after 20min and more than 60 Euros on the phone I got the mighty "booking reference"! Arriving in New Zealand, 99% sure, they made me for that spend 1h in Customs running through all my things during an extensive interrogation. It makes no sense playing with people lifes in a job that you are supposed to help people that paid for a service. Worst flying company I ever travelled.

Fiji Airways must be one of the most unreliable airlines in the world and offers a terribly over-priced flight between Suva and Funafuti by monopoly. Using its control over which companies can have landing rights in Fiji no other carriers can supply flights into Tuvalu. Its is getting way too common that you turn up and check-in for a flight and then are told it is cancelled. Then there are usually 2 days (though I have had up to 5) of waiting in some hotel to travel. Needless to say this destroys all onward plans and flights. If it was not a monopoly, I would never fly with them again.

We booked business class from LAX - Fiji - Sydney, return Auckland - Fiji - LAX. We fly business class often. DO NOT USE FIJI AIRWAYS IF YOU EXPECT BUSINESS CLASS SERVICE. Only one leg of our journey was pleasant. The attendants couldn't be bothered. When I asked for a blanket, the attendant actually looked at me and said, "No. I don't have any." On a $6000 flight? The food was awful. My seat was broken. I will never use this airlines again and I advise others to use a different route to and from Australia.

Took a newly refurbished 747 from LAX to Nadi in Oct, and had a lovely experience. Seat reclines almost flat, so was easy to sleep if laying on your side. Newer Airbus to Sydney. Nice flight. They do let small children in Business class much to our surprise, but with head phones on it is unnoticeable if there is a loud one. New Airbus from Nadi back to LAX was wonderful. The reason for score of 8 instead of 10. 1) there was about 7 hrs between flights, and they don't hold your bags between flights, even though the carrier was Fiji Airways the entire way from Sydney to LAX. They want nearly $20 U.S. PER BAG!! I pitched a fit, and they finally allowed us to put our bags behind an unattended counter, but would not guarantee its safety. I am world traveler for the last 30 years, and have never encountered such an ordeal. If your next flight is more than 3 hrs, good luck!! Business class on the planes were terrific. Ground agents are non-existent, unless a plane is leaving. Also, don't lose your cell phone on their planes, as you'll will definitely never see it again (fell out of my pocket into seat).

Flew Melbourne to Nadi return. Food and beverage both ways was fine. The only negative would be the entertainment. One movie and the same episode of Modern Family repeated twice for a 5 hour flight is quite average. At least 2 movies would have passed the time better.

Being a loyal Virgin Australia passenger I found myself stranded in LA and unable to get back to Melbourne. I flew Fiji Airways in February 2021 and Air New Zealand in November. I can say without a doubt my flight with Fiji Airways was far more comfortable in every way compared to air New Zealand. From the comfort of the seats to the incredible vegetarian food there was no comparison. I honestly find the flight crew so delightful, although I have great admiration for all flight crews there was a warmth from all on both flights each way that made it just that was just a little more welcoming. Although Nadi airport leaves a little to be desired my short layover makes it bearable. I'm flying again next month and I didn't even look at prices (although I wasn't aware Virgin was flying to LA again) I still think I'd choose Fiji Airways

Mostly I just want to leave a review to prepare people if they fly with this airline and something does go wrong the customer service I received has left me with the conclusion that they really do not care. The level of customer service I received from them and how they deal with complaints is the worst experience I have ever had from any company, after sending three additional emails to them following my initial complaint they didn't even bother responding from their so called complaints email service! I don't really want to go into detail of what my complaint was with Fiji airways, I just feel obliged to let people know the kind of company I experienced, and nothing about it was good. There are much better airline options to fly to Fiji with and I will definitely never fly with this airline again.

Fiji Airways just got 5 star award from APEX. How on earth did that happen? They are not 5 star! They fired 400+ of their very own cabin crew with nothing left to their names. They were not made redundant they were all terminated. Did Apex even take the Airline major debt into consideration before giving away such a rating??

Never book with Fiji Airways. Their gate agent in Los Angelas denied me boarding and stranded me at LAX (en route from Toronto to Auckland) and did not cancel my flight so that I could rebook using the remaining flight credit. The reason I was denied boarding is that I was unable to show her my onward travel from New Zealand in the 10 minutes I had left in boarding time. She left my status as a 'no-show' despite the fact that I was at the gate. This caused me to have to book a new flight at full price for the next date. I have been dealing with Fiji Airways call centre staff for over a month trying to get a refund on only the unused portion of my ticket (Los Angeles to Auckland) and they have consistently promised to update me via email or phone call and have never followed up once. They have told me to email '[email protected]' and '[email protected]' which don't even exist anymore. Trying to get anywhere with Fiji Airways has been a nightmare and I would recommend avoiding this airline at all costs.

I was taking Fiji Airways from Fiji to Los Angles and I was at the airport in Nadi international Airport on the island Viti Levu. The flight attendants were kind and the flight was good. However, I, and all the other passenger who were unaware, were very upset that were weren't allow to carry on any beverages purchased in the airport. I felt cheated. No one informed me of this rule and I thought it was a little bit ridiculous and unfair.

After reading the reviews on Fiji airline, I was not looking forward to the return trip from Sydney to Nadi. At the airport, the line was long but all the counters was open, staff were efficient and the oversize luggage cage is right there. The flight was on time, the plane (?air bus A240) has quite large seat and great entertainment program, meal was average, staff were friendly and helpful. On the trip back to Sydney, the ground staff serve us straight away cos we travel with a 4 mths old. We paid FJD $75 per person to use the Fiji airway lounge, they have nice Fiji rum, ok food n internet which wroth the money. Flight was on time but it was a old plane (airbus850?) with TV screen above your head, the leather cushion on my seat kept coming off. Meals was average. Staff were nice.

One deceiving Airline. When made reservation, I requested seats round trip. Am very particular about seating. Checked in at Nandi to travel to LAX. The agent changed my seat and put me in between. When asked he said Fiji Airways does not guaranty seats in spite of reserving it while making reservation.

Worst experience of my life . Reservations staff bookings everything is so bad. And yet I still haven't received a acknowledgement letter to say that have read my complaint and at least say you are sorry.. pffttt t your a stuck up airline. Noone wants to fly with you. I was stuck in another country because of you guys stressing out with my 4 year old son not knowing what to do and how to get back home. Never again in my lifetime. The Ugly (lets get it out of the way): * Nadi airport: clearly needs improvement (looks a bit like a cow shed at times) * Business lounge in LAX/TBIA: crowded, no showers, sad-looking sandwiches that appear to have been imprisoned in that fridge for months (no-one appeared willing to rescue). Use your Priority Pass instead. * Incompetent staff on the phone: unable to explain whether the airline can transfer luggage between two connecting flights booked separately (still don't know the answer, had to rebook a portion of my flight because of this). The Average: * Business class lounge at Nadi. Not outstanding, but has a shower and some reasonably tasty food at times. The Good: * Business class seat: The seat is not fully flat, but still very comfortable. I had a very good sleep both ways from Nadi to LA and back. * Staff was reasonably attentive during both flights, although I did not have dinner either way (had food prior to the flight) * Value for money: Great for travelling between Australia and the US. The cost of business class ticket compares well to Premium Economy on other airlines (without having to connect through Asia), but offers a comfortable seat to sleep. Flew the AA/Oneworld flight from SAV to NAN via LAX. The Fiji Airways flight was wonderful. Nice in-flight service and quiet cabin. The food was good and plenty of nice service and attention. Since the flight leaves so late in the evening, dinner is served almost immediately - thank goodness. Got about 7 hours sleep before being awakened 2 hours before touchdown for breakfast. Seats are not lie-flat, but ok. Don't watch movies but noticed that some folks watched quite a few. The trip back from NAN to LAX was fine as well. Fights on time and nice service in a quiet cabin. Pay attention to your carry on size and weight, they are very particular about this. Overall, it was a good flight.

Using this Airline for the first time to Travel from Melbourne to Apia Samoa Fj930 Scheduled Departure 4th Jan 2017 at 22.35pm Arriving Nadi Airport 5th at 5.20am. Nadi 7.00am 5th Jan arriving Apia 10.50am on the 5th Jan.At the Melbourne air port we were told the flight is delayed for 1hr 45minutes putting our second flight to Samoa in jeopardy. They issued me and my daughter new itineraries and was told we are to stayed in Fiji at Tanoa Hotel overnight for the flight to Apia on the morning of the 6th.Great I thought way to go Fiji Air Ways thinking to myself. Few other Samoans were on the same predicament and others visiting. All good until we arrived in Nadi 6.35am The ground stuff it's the worse I came across. Disorders and lag of organisation was just evident at the platform no one was there to direct transit Passengers to get the transport to the hotel and we have find our own way outside someone will pick us up from Tanoa Hotel some one did came and loaded most of us and bags and we all sitting ready to go only to be told to get off the bus after 2.30hrs. Reason The Tanoa Hotel is fully booked kept to her self didn't even think to let us know what's going on. Very Bad

I feel that the airline can do more to achieve a better customer satisfaction. The flight attendants did a reasonable job to cater for the needs but could see that they were not attending to lights switched on seeking their assistance. Food tasted bland - I am on GF diet so took some chips. I would rate the service good, not great!

Fiji Airways is appalling! They overbooked not only my flight but the flights before and after me. About 60 people were bumped off the flight. My flight had to return to Nadi due to bad weather (understandable). But this left me stranded in Nadi for a week. They were so disorganized, gave passengers no information, would hang up the phone if you called for a flight update. The had no system to manage passengers at checkin and it was all chaotic, with many passengers bumped off flights even tho they had confirmed tickets. The whole experience was shocking. The Internet checkin does not work. Avoid Fiji Airways if at all possible!

Hopeless delayed soooooo frustrated can anyone at Fiji Airways explain wat happen on Brisbane to Nadi flight FJ 922 Sat 17th May 2014 schedule for midnight 23.55 instead delayed untill 0415 with no explanation whatsoever.. No one notify us that we will be stranded at the airport lounges.. They can't provide us with accommodation etc,etc...

flown with them a few times. As a Qantas frequent flyer they never automatically update points as a partner airline.It is always a hassle. I tried ringing customer service? I sent an email, no reply. Just about to give up on ever getting points from a partner airline. Flight staff are generally great ambassadors for the airline, friendly and helpful

Here are the issues you'll find with flying with FJ long-haul: - Pitch is miserable - 31" compared to around 34" on NZ A320. With the seat reclined in front of you your tray table will definitely be in your lap. - Seat seems to be an Airbus base product. The cushioning is incredibly thin and I guarantee you your butt will get sore and you won't find a comfortable seating position. - The pilots are hyper-sensitive to turbulence and the seat belt sign. I'm more than aware of turbulence and the correlation with safety however it was over the top. And on each occasion the cabin crew must be seated. - Fiji prides itself on island time. However this can be used in-flight to mean wait for ages to get anything. We were in row 28 and there was no separate beverage service - instead you had to wait 2 hours for a drink and dinner. - Catering very poor. No choice aside from chicken curry or vege. Portions small, no dessert, one drink. - During the flight I went to find some water. Down in the galley there was one attendant and she was having a nap. - Breakfast is served a ridiculously early time of around 3 hours prior to arrival. Full lights on, you have no choice but to wake-up.

I would definitely never ever recommend anybody to this company. It's a nightmare. Changing ticket and in all that the fee is ridiculous. Don't even think about buying or do anything or associate with them. They looking for money instead of served and caring for the people. I would pick Air New Zealand any Day than them!

My father died while in Tonga on the day he was to return to the US. and could not take the other half of of his round trip ticket he purchased. After speaking with several supervisors, they informed me that unless they were given 24hr notice that my Dad could not be on the flight there is no responsibility on their part. There is no exception to this rule even if someone suddenly passes away hours before their flight, & there's the documentation to prove it. EDITORS COMMENT: As awful as it is I think you will find that this is most airlines policies.

Flew from Melbourne to Nadi on Boeing 737/800. Would not fly with this airline again, to begin with there is no online check in & at the airport we arrived just after check in opened but could still not all be seated together (we were travelling with another family). There was very minimal leg room on the plane, no individual entertainment systems, the food was terrible both on outbound from Melbourne & return. The return flight was changed (delayed) by an hour & we weren't notified so we got to airport too early, in all a disappointing experience.

My wife recently flew to the Solomon Islands from Denver to Honiara, Solomon Islands via American and Fiji Airlines. She had a very positive experience. Because of her gluten intolerance, I made a call to Fiji Air and told the phone attendant of her situation. The gal simply said, "OK, we will sign her up for gluten-free meals," and sure enough she was served tasty gluten-free meals. The cabin crew was friendly and in fact when she exited her last flight in Honiara, the attendant said, "Thank you Mrs Howe for flying Fiji Air." She was blown away that they knew her name. Kudos Fiji Air. There was no problem with her luggage getting from Denver to the Solomon IS.

We traveled in coach on Fiji Airways from Los Angeles to Melbourne, Australia, and from Auckland, NZ to Los Angeles. The plane appeared to be relatively new, the seats were comfortable compared to coach seats on many US carriers, the food was acceptable, and the staff (both at the desk checking in and the crew on board the plane) were pleasant and helpful. I have read some reviews that are, for various reasons, critical of the airline, but our experience was quite good and I would not hesitate to fly with them again.

Worst. Airline. Ever. Canceled flights and delays are a fact of air travel. Most passengers are entirely reasonable and understand this, even while they are disappointed about losing a day of vacation, or not making it to a wedding or meeting in time, etc. What makes passengers CRAZY is being constantly lied to by an airline, in 30-minute increments. Being forced to get up at 3 am and present themselves for a "rescheduled flight" that doesn't actually HAVE a confirmed departure time, and won't be given one by the airport until it finds a likely "hole" to squeeze the flight into. Having reasonable requests to be rebooked onto another scheduled flight BY THE SAME AIRLINE in the SAME CLASS flat-out denied when seats are clearly available. It is Fiji Air's tendency to cancel flights, reschedule them, and then repeatedly delay and delay and delay the same flight WHILE NOT GIVING PASSENGERS any real or true information that causes so many people give the airline such poor reviews.

June 2013 Sydney - Nadi - Sydney. Boeing 737 (an almost brand new aeroplane). I enjoyed the flight. Went to Fiji to visit the birth place of my lovely partner. I found the experience to be no fuss, pleasant and a laid back 'island' approach. A toilet was blocked at the back of the aircraft, which caused a few passengers discomfort, but "s*** happens" sometimes regardless of which airline / business. Loved the experience ... Bula Venaka!
